Gold Road Chapter

Release: June 3rd 2024

The Gold Road Chapter, released in June 2024, was the foundational annual Chapter for The Elder Scrolls Online, carrying forward the Gold Road year-long saga. This major expansion introduced players to a brand-new, long-requested zone, brought back a fan-favorite city from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and, most significantly, delivered a revolutionary new customization system that fundamentally changed how players approach their character builds

Key Features added in the Gold Road DLC

Revolutionary New System: Scribing

Scribing is a new system described as a "precursor to Spellcrafting". It allows players to create new, customisable abilities based on those found in the Weapon, World and Guild skill-lines.

Players will combine Grimoires and Scripts to forge these new spells, and a new currency called Inks will also be consumed when crafting them.

To get started with Scribing, players must seek out Ulfsild, a new NPC who will teach you about how Scribing works, as well as the history and lore behind this form of magic, as part of a new multi-quest story arc.

Skill Styling

Players can further customise their skills with the new Skill Styling system. Unlike Scribing, this is entirely cosmetic and will allow you to change the appearance of some of your skills, also from the Weapon, World and Guild skill-lines. There will be 22 different Skill Styles to collect at launch, with more planned for future content releases.

New 12-Player Trial: Lucent Citadel

This challenging trial sends players into an ancient Daedric vault in Fargrave that has been awakened by Ithelia's return. You'll face powerful Daedric creatures and work to secure a dangerous artifact called the Arcane Knot. Expect intricate mechanics involving light and dark magic, shared responsibilities among players, and multiple challenging bosses.
