Released: March 17, 2015 - PC - Patch NotesWith the Tamriel Unlimited Patch, ESO moved from a Buy-To-Play subscription model and rebranded the game as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Before this, ESO had a subscription payment model where you were required to pay a monthly fee, as well as the upfront cost of the physical or digital game. This change facilitated the console release, as the Buy-to-Play model is more in line with generally accepted console payment methods.ESO Plus was launched as an optional payment plan to replace the mandatory subscription fees. This upgrade comes with access to all DLCs and an allotment of Crowns, among other benefits.Crown Store
- Crowns are an in-game currency that aren't tradeable with other players
- Purchase of Crowns must be made through ESO's online store
- ESO+ members receive allotments of Crowns equivalent to the subscription fee after a successful payment
- Features on the Crown Store include pets, mounts, costumes and convenience items
