Lower Craglorn
Released: May 22, 2014 - PC - Patchnotes
The first Update brought us Craglorn, which later became “Lower Craglorn”. An area designed for groups of four Veteran Rank 10+ characters. Players can travel to Craglorn once Level 50/Veteran Rank 1 has been attained. Players definitely needed allies to take on the new challenges.
This was the Elder Scrolls Online’s first major content update, introducing the adventure zone Craglorn. It was not known at that time that this update was only a part of a complete zone with “Upper Craglorn”, which was unveiled for Update 4 in September 2014, officially completing the content release.
Craglorn was the first view on what the so-called “endgame” would look like. Craglorn was designed to be the hardest content, for a group of 4 players with Veteran Rank 10+. It was also the first time trials were introduced to ESO, a 12-player group content that is known as “raid” to other MMO players. They contained a limited amount of resurrections and a running timer which contributed to a score which the players were awarded with at the end of the run. The score was eventually listed on the Trial Leaderboard found within the game’s UI. There was also a Weekly Trial which awarded players for running a specific trial with top numbers, gaining all trial participants special loot and rewards in the mail by the end of the week.
