This event will start on Apr 29th 2026

The Night Market is a major new addition to The Elder Scrolls Online, introducing the game’s first-ever Event Zone. Designed as a limited-time, experimental PVE experience, the Night Market allows ZeniMax Online Studios to test new gameplay systems, difficulty scaling and reward structures that may shape future ESO content.

This complete guide explains Night Market dates, gameplay mechanics, factions, rewards, progression systems, and how to unlock the Night’s Den house, so you know exactly what to expect when the event goes live.

What Is the Night Market in ESO?

The Night Market is a large-scale cooperative PvE Event Zone set in the extra-planar city of Fargrave. Unlike traditional overland zones, it features:

  • Significantly higher combat difficulty
  • Faction-based progression
  • Rewards tied to Faction Favor
  • A strong focus on group-oriented gameplay

The zone is designed primarily for experienced players, offering a bridge between casual overland content and end-game activities such as Trials and Arenas.

ESO Night Market Event Availability:

The Night Market is scheduled to begin on April 29 2026 and will run until June 17 2026.

While the Night Market is currently a limited-time event, ZeniMax has confirmed it will return later in 2026. Based on player feedback, it may become a permanent Event Zone in the future.

Getting Started

You can access the Night Market using any of the following methods:

  1. Quest Starter: Pick up the free quest "Those Who Would Rule" from the Crown Store under Quest Starters > Events
  2. Direct Travel: Use the Starlit Plaza Wayshrine or select the new icon on the Fargrave Map to teleport directly
  3. The Curator: Locate The Curator within the Shambles in eastern Fargrave. He will guide you through a portal to the heart of the Night Market

Tip: While solo play is possible, we recommend you group up as the event zone is designed for players seeking more difficult PVE content.

Zone Districts & Activities

The Night Market features three themed districts, each containing unique hazards and events.

  • The Parch: A dry, arid landscape where wind rattles the bones of the fallen.
  • Skittering Precinct: A district overrun by crawling creatures nesting within the walls.
  • Sorrow’s Friend: A dark, foreboding area home to malevolent creatures lurking in the shadows.

Activities you can complete in the Districts

  1. Boss Hunting: Encounter Brazen, Argent, and Calamitous monsters stalking the streets.
  2. Skirmishes: Participate in public events such as the Brood Skirmish (Skittering Precinct), Ritual Skirmish (The Parch), or Descender Skirmish (Sorrow’s Friend).
  3. Daring Races: Time-based traversal challenges across winding district streets.
  4. Oddities: Solve environmental puzzles that often require multiple players to complete.
  5. The Opulent Ordeal: A 12-player Trial encounter that serves as the ultimate challenge of coordination and skill.
  6. Daily Quests: Offered by faction patrons
  7. Repeatable discoverable quests: Found in the districts.

Night Market Boons & Affinities Explained

In the Night Market, Boons and Affinities are core gameplay mechanics designed to help players survive the zone’s intentionally high difficulty.

Boons vs Affinities

  1. Boons: Temporary Power Boosts that apply to the entire Night Market zone
  2. Affinities: Required mechanics for advanced encounters and achievements within the Opulent Ordeal Trial.

How to Earn Boons

You can acquire boons by completing the following activities:

  • Defeating Major Bosses: Slay Calamitous roaming bosses such as Roksa the Warped or The Dunegorger. Or defeat Gilded 4-player bosses like Alziriix or B’Kyfxi
  • Completing Daring Races: Finish traversal challenges such as Void Collapse or Unstable Creatia.
  • Solving Oddities: Complete cooperative environmental puzzles like Boulder Dash and Guiding Light
  • Hunting Faceted Foes: Defeat rare enemies marked by a green or gold glow, which indicate enhanced variants

Boons are intended to smooth difficulty spikes, especially when chaining boss encounters or tackling skirmishes with smaller groups.

Affinities: Opulent Ordeal Trial-Specific

Unlike boons, affinities are not general-purpose buffs. Each affinity interacts with specific boss mechanics and environmental hazards within the trial.

There are three Affinities:

  • Cobweb Affinity
  • Drylands Affinity
  • Eclipse Affinity

How Night Market Rewards Work

Earning rewards in the Night Market involves participating in high-difficulty PVE activities, progressing through faction ranks, and completing achievements.

Faction Favor Explained

Favor is the primary progression "currency" tied to your chosen faction.

How to Earn Favor:

  • Complete daily faction quests
  • Finish repeatable district quests
  • Participate in skirmishes and district events

Faction Vendors

As your Favor rank increases, you unlock new items from your faction vendor in the Starlit Plaza, including:

  • Boss busts and trophies
  • Furnishing versions of Night Market mementos
  • Cosmetic and achievement-based rewards

Icon icon Bearer of Fargrave, Broken Skull How the Bearers of Fargrave met their end is a mystery known to no mortal or Daedra yet living. It's said a great and terrible calamity occurred, the Bearers forgot their purpose, and they met their ends as aetherial sands rose to consume them.
Icon icon Bearer of Fargrave, Skeletal Jaw It's said that in ages long past these great colossi once hefted Fargrave onto their shoulders, transporting it down a great and winding road. This endless procession wore paths in the very fabric of the Aurbis that still survive to this day.
