The Night Market is a major new addition to The Elder Scrolls Online, introducing the game’s first-ever Event Zone. Designed as a limited-time, experimental PVE experience, the Night Market allows ZeniMax Online Studios to test new gameplay systems, difficulty scaling and reward structures that may influence future ESO content.

This guide covers Night Market dates, gameplay mechanics, rewards, factions and progression, so you know exactly what to expect.

What Is the Night Market in ESO?

The Night Market is a large-scale cooperative PVE event zone set in the extra-planar city of Fargrave. Unlike traditional overland zones, it features higher difficulty, faction-based competition and progression-driven rewards that evolve as players complete event objectives.

Event availability:

The Night Market is scheduled to begin on 29 April 2026 and will run until June 17 2026.

While this is a limited-time event, ZeniMax has confirmed it will return later in 2026, with the potential to become a permanent addition based on player feedback.

How to participate in the ESO Night Market Event Zone

To get started with the free Night Market event:

  1. Group up or travel solo to the Night Market, located in the Oblivion realm of Fargrave.
  2. Upon arrival, you will be prompted to align with one of three factions for the duration of the event.
  3. Participate in challenging PvE encounters to progress your faction's standing and progress your house.

While solo play is possible, we recommend you group up as the event zone is designed for players seeking more difficult PVE content.

Night Market Rewards

The Night Market offers a variety of unique and functional rewards that differ from standard zone  offerings.

The Dynamically Progressed Player House

The primary reward is a dynamic player house that evolves as you complete challenges for your chosen faction.

In a franchise first, this house features a fully functional bank located directly inside the home!

New Functional Reward Type

The developers are introducing a new type of functional reward through this event that is expected to affect gameplay in an exciting way.

Night Market Gameplay Mechanics Explained

While accessible to solo players, The Night Market is designed for experienced players who prefer the mechanical requirements of trials or arenas but within a zone-sized map.

The Zone serves as an entry point for those looking to bridge the gap between casual play and end-game veteran content.

The Three Factions

Upon entering the zone, you must align with one of three factions.

  • Faction Alignment: Every time the zone becomes available, you must choose one faction to align with.
  • Faction Competition: There is an active competition between these three groups to determine which faction can make the most progress within the market during the event window.
