What is the ESO Tales of Tribute Card Game?

A new way to unwind in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) - grab a tankard of mead and bring your best decks to match of the brand-new strategy card game, Tales of Tribute. Compete with friends or test your mettle against NPCs in this deck building game invented on High Isle.

The ESO Tales of Tribute card game is part of the High Isle Chapter and is one of the main features that will be added this year. This collectible card game (CCG) is like a tavern card game that you can play anywhere and that allows you to compete against your fellow players and NPCs, which focuses on gaining the most resources.

You can challenge NPCs in taverns all over Tamriel, find a match via the group UI and compete with other players to rise up the leaderboards. By winning, you unlock unique rewards, such as achievements, collectibles such as cosmetics and furnishings, gold, crafting materials such as transmute stones and more.

The way it is supposed to work is that each player provides two decks into one pool. From this combined pool of four decks, the players will receive cards. This means that there’s a fair chance for everyone involved, especially if one player has a set that is not so rare to compete against someone that has a rare set. In the end you are trying to reach the victory point goal, which you can do in different ways.

You will be able to use patrons to curry favor and to help you advance through it, so it’s a lot more about strategy rather than a combat game. On top of this, there’s also a storyline that you can advance by challenging certain NPCs throughout the world.

In order to get new cards and decks, you first have to go through the tutorial. There you unlock the four starter decks and make you able to play right away. By exploring the world you start to unlock and find new patron decks that add to your cards. You will also find unique individual upgrade cards as well.

What happens when you fight a player with maxed out cards, does it matter? Cards get mixed at the start of the game and then randomly distributed to both players. Therefore nobody will be at a disadvantage.
