What Is the Skill Line Experience Boost Event?

The Skill Line Experience Boost is a catch-up mechanic ZeniMax runs after significant changes to skill trees or ability effects. When combat updates rework how abilities function or where they sit in a skill tree, this event gives players time to re-rank affected skills without falling behind.

It does not increase character level XP, Champion Points or general experience gain. The bonus applies to individual skill ranks only, and only within Class, Weapon and Armor skill lines.

Global Bonuses and Effects

This event is a free base game update active in all zones.

  • 100% Skill Line Experience Boost: This applies passively to Weapon, Armor, Class Skill Lines and all skills.

What Gets Boosted

❌ Not Boosted

Example: Ranking up Silver Bolts iconSilver Bolts (a Fighters Guild ability) is boosted. Leveling the Fighters Guild skill line itself is not.

How to Participate

Play normally and let the passive bonus do its work. Keep at least one skill from any line you want to level slotted on either bar. You do not need to actively use the skill for it to gain XP.

As of Update 49 (March 9, 2026), skills on your back bar earn XP at the same rate as your front bar. Exception: backbar XP is disabled if you are using the Oakensoul Ring iconOakensoul Ring.

Top Methods for Leveling Skill Lines
