This build is streamlined to take full advantage of Oakensoul. The goal is constant uptime on offense and sustain buffs (including minor heroism and an obscure favorite: minor courage), enabling a more constant state of readiness with which we can re-enter combat more quickly + have more resources for pressure, pursuit, or escape.
The difference with 2.0 is that I finally caved to the Asssassination meta. I realized that Invisibility + Major Expedition + Major Vitality potions could replace Shadowy Disguise entirely if the tradeoff of a 30-second cooldown were worth the raw power of Assassination burst (it is). I just needed to source the sustain loss elsewhere, since I was relying on tripots for the Major sustain buffs. I rescribed Major Breach to those, dropped the Atronach mundus for Lover to make up for some of the lost penetration, and swapped Power Overload for Energy Overload for the sustain. We sit at roughly 17.3k pen before Crystal Weapon & Minor Breach, and without champion points.
Strengths: burst and pressure.
- For our opening move, Crystal Weapon stuns from range, as long as we're sneaking and flanking.
- Constant uptime on Minor Heroism, which means near-constant access to Energy Overload.
- Excellent mobility due to Streak and Swift jewelry. We sneak at full speed due to vampirism, and it's free with Darloc Brae (we actually recover lost stamina slowly while sneaking).
- 6% of stage 3 vampirism's increased ability cost is offset through the Unholy Knowledge passive from Dark Magic. We also get 10% off the next skill cast after Crystal Weapon.
Weaknesses: a lack of multiple sources of passive healing in combat, and no source of Minor Expedition.
- We have a bit of passive healing from the Blood Magic passive every time we cast Crystal Weapon, otherwise our entire source of healing is Contingency (Darloc Brae version) or Vigor (Wretched Vitality version). Major Vitality from the invis potion helps boost this in a pinch.
- We're going for extra penetration (Colovian Highlands) instead of health (Trainee) with our leftover armor slot, and making hefty use of dodge to survive, since we don't have any additional crit resistance. If it looks like we're about to die, we pop the invis potion and get the hell out of there.
