There was some controversy surrounding the Lost Depths update in the Elder Scrolls Online, for a multitude of reasons. One of those reasons was the loss of DPS due to nerfs to various skills, especially DoT abilities.

However after the patch, players who were testing by parsing on the Iron Atronach target dummy have had similar, or in some cases higher, DPS values than they did before the patch. This may have led to some thoughts that the outrage about the combat changes was total nonsense, however as we will discuss here, the situation isn't quite that simple.

How Raid Dummies were Buffed in ESO's Update 35

This is probably common knowledge in endgame circles, but it is very likely that it was overlooked by many other players. If you don't pay attention to patch notes or spend a lot of time watching videos about ESO, then there's no way you could have known about it.

A DPS Parse in ESOA DPS Parse in ESOIn Update 35, alongside the Lost Depths DLC, the following changes were made to target dummies in ESO:The net effect of these changes is an increase in damage received by these target dummies. Therefore players unaware of the changes who are parsing might have the illusion that their damage has increased since Lost Depths, when in real fights this will not be the case.

We are not saying that this is a good thing or a bad thing, we just want to raise awareness about this so that players can better judge the effectiveness of their builds.
