Today we have a two-part article for you. This is mainly meant as a guide for players who are just getting into ESO Necrom and want to know which sets and Mythic items are new to the game, and what to prioritize obtaining.
Firstly we will list all of these sets, split into their respective categories (Crafted, Overland, Trial and Mythic) and then at the end of the article we'll have a quick run-down of the best and worst sets in the Necrom chapter.
So without further delay, let's see what we have!
All New ESO Sets in Necrom
Here are the categories of new sets in ESO Necrom, along with the sets themselves. You can mouse over the sets to learn more about them, and click on them for even more info.
Necrom Overland Sets
Overland Sets can be obtained by defeating Bosses, Opening Chests, Completing Quests and other such activities in the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha zones, and their contained Delves, Public Dungeons, etc. The new sets are:
Necrom Crafted Sets
Crafted Sets can never be looted - they need to be crafted by visiting their associated Crafting Station in either Telvanni Peninsula or Apocrypha. The new Crafted Sets in Necrom are:
Necrom Trial Sets
The Necrom Trial sets can only be obtained in the new 12-player trial - Sanity's Edge. You can either get the standard version of these sets from Normal Difficulty, or the Perfected version from Veteran Difficulty. Generally the difference between standard and perfected is fairly small. The new Trial Sets are:
Necrom Mythic Items
Necrom also added three new Mythic Items, special 1-piece set items that can only be obained by locating and collecting the pieces via the Antiquities System. To do that, you also first need to find the Leads in order to Scry them. Please click on the Mythic Items below to see the locations of all required leads. The new Mythic Items in Necrom are:
What are the Best Sets in ESO Necrom?
Camonna Tong stands out as the best Overland set in Necrom. It's a set that's perfect for farming large numbers of enemies, as every kill will earn you extra damage output for a time. It's really a good PvE solo set.
There aren't any especially powerful Crafted sets that come with Necrom, however you could look into Seeker Synthesis if you have a fun build that relies heavily on potions (Argonians take note) or Telvanni Efficiency if you want to make your Companion stronger.
Ansuul's Torment is a really good niche DPS set - it has the potential to outperform Bahsei's Mania if you're running an interrupter role in a trial like Asylum Sanctorum, but otherwise is an off-meta set.
Then there's Transformative Hope, a new healer set which lets you give Major Slayer to yourself and your team, in situations where you heal people from low health.
In summary, there's nothing in terms of sets that is a huge game changer in Necrom, however there are a few options that can challenge the meta in specific situations, or just provide fun and interesting new options for solo players or people who like making unusual builds for fun.
What are the Worst Sets in ESO Necrom?
I have to start off by mentioning my strong disapproval of the Adamant Lurker set. Of course everyone should play the game however they want to, but this is a set that incentivises tanks (presumably learners, as its an Overland set) to just stand still and hold block, doing nothing remotely useful for their team and being a Magicka-sink for their healer, all so they can keep up a measly Health Recovery bonus. In my view this set is practically self-sabotage and you should simply never use it.
Another set that's not especially good (it also happens to be another tank set) is Test of Resolve. While the set is potentially useful for newer tanks, it's not really at the level you would expect from a decent Trial set, and certainly isn't on par with the other Trial sets in Necrom.
