For a very long time in ESO, you've been able to hide your helmet if you'd prefer your character's face to remain visible. Initially this was done via the in-game settings, and later it became integrated as an option in the Outfit system, which allows players to make an outfit independent of the appearance of the armor that they have equipped.
Some players who wanted to make a more "casual" outfit for their character wanted an option to completely hide the shoulder armor too, but for a long time have been forced to instead choose a very unobtrusive style for the shoulder armor.
However, this is set to change after the next ESO update.
How to Hide Shoulder Armor on Your ESO Outfit
At some point after Update 37, players will get access to a new feature that allows you to hide your shoulder armor, also called Epaulets, Arm Cops or Pauldrons.
It's expected that this will take the form of a collectible item that you'll be able to purchase from the Impresario merchant during the Jester's Festival, and that you'll also be able to purchase it in subsequent events thereafter.
This is great news, as it means the option will be free for everyone - you'll just have to spend a bit of time earning Event Tickets during an in-game event, which is usually an easy process that can be done in a few minutes.
So for those of you who want more customization options for your character outfits in ESO, this will be coming your way pretty soon!
