ESO's High Isle Update is Today. Here's What's New.

Months after it was announced by Zenimax Online Studios, today is the day when the High Isle Chapter and its accompanying update finally go live on the ESO megaservers.

If you're not sure what to expect, then this article will provide you with an overview of everything that's new in the update and expansion.

New Breton-Themed Zone: High Isle and Amenos

The most major new addition to the game for players who purchase the High Isle expansion is the large zone of High Isle and Amenos, the two largest islands in the Systres Archipelago. The zone is mostly populated by Bretons, with High Isle itself being home to a large portion of the Breton nobility, featuring grand castles, busy dockyards and radiant fields of sunflowers. By contrast, the smaller island of Amenos is a prison island home to many of the most notorious criminals in Tamriel, banished and left to fend for themselves in the harsh, unforgiving jungle.

The zone features six world bosses, six delves, two public dungeons as well as a new storyline and a plethora of side-quests to complete.

New Card Mini-Game, Tales of Tribute

The High Isle DLC introduces a new card game called Tales of Tribute, which allows players to collect cards and then use them in strategic card matches against either AI NPCs or other players. Playing the card game will earn you additional rewards in your mail, including valuable crafting materials, and playing ranked games against other players can also get you onto the leaderboard for additional rewards. If ranked play isn't your thing, then you can also play casual matches against friends, assuming both of you own the High Isle expansion and have done the Tales of Tribute introduction quest.

Two new  Companions, Ember and Isobel

High Isle features two new Companions who can be recruited to join you on your adventures. Isobel is a Breton knight who admires chivalric deeds but can be a bit prone to some childish tendencies including a love for candy, while Ember is a khajiit sorcerer who can be quite chaotic, getting herself into trouble with her magic.

New Trial, Dreadsail Reef

For those interested in raids, there is a new 12-player trial in High Isle, which will pit you and your team against the Dreadsail Pirates. Conquer the Dreadsail Reef to earn powerful new item sets for your characters. Early indications on the PTS have suggested that Dreadsail Reef is the hardest trial released so far, so players who enjoy challenging themselves with the hardest PvE content available in the Elder Scrolls Online are likely to enjoy getting stuck into Dreadsail Reef.

New World Event, Volcanic Vents

Join fellow adventurers to defeat strong and fiery enemies at various Volcanic Vent sites scattered around High Isle and Amenos. You will get additional loot for closing Volcanic Vents. They are quite similar to Harrowstorms in the Greymoor expansion. If you're not familiar with those, then they are basically like a significantly more difficult version of the Dark Anchors from the base game, but with a different theme of enemies spawning there.

Five new Mythic items

Players who own High Isle and also have access to Greymoor, either by owning it or with an active ESO Plus Subscription, will be able to scry and dig for five new Mythic items using the Antiquities system. Most anticipated is the powerful Oakensoul Ring, which gives significant buffs to its wearer at the cost of restricting you to only one ability bar. Players who struggle with complicated rotations or just want a relaxed experience on their damage dealer might be particularly interested in this item.

Here is a full list of the new Mythic items, you can click on each one to learn more about it:

Ten New Item Sets

In addition to the aforementioned Mythic Items, High Isle will also include ten new item sets. Here are three lists of the sets, depending on where they are obtained from. You can click on each one to learn more about it.
