What Players Liked: Quality of Life and Common Sense
The most celebrated aspect of the 2026 roadmap is a wave of Quality of Life (QoL) updates that address decade-old player frustrations:
- Back-bar experience: Weapons and skills on your "Back-bar" will earn experience.
- Account-wide outfit slots: Outfit slots will be account-wide.

What Players Disliked: Monetization and Content Concerns
The community is thrilled by the technical updates and that all new 2026 gameplay content (zones, dungeons, stories etc) will be free for all players. However, this free content is supported by the new Tamriel Tomes Battle Pass like system, which has many fans reaching for their calculators.
- Battle Pass Tiers: The Tamriel Tomes battle pass features three tiers: Free, Premium ($15), and Premium+Bonus ($30).
- ESO Plus frustration: Subscribers are frustrated that the Premium Battle Pass is not included in ESO Plus.
- Content scale: Many have noted the absence of a traditional "Chapter-scale" zone and are worried we will get less content.

Mixed Opinions on Gameplay Changes
Not all reactions fall neatly into praise or criticism.
- Class Identity: Players generally agree that class identity improvements are necessary, but fear large-scale combat reworks could disrupt balance.
- Class Update Cadence: The plan to rework only one class per season has also been criticized as too slow, meaning some classes may wait years for updates.
