The introduction of a new content model for ESO in 2025, marked by the Seasons of the Worm Cult, has created uncertainty around the ESO 2025 Content Pass, the meaning of "Seasons," and which version you should buy.

Update 46: Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1  releases on June 2, for PC/Mac and June 18, for consoles.

ESO 2025 Content Pass Explained

ESO 2025 Content Pass is a one-time purchase that gives you permanent ownership of all of ESO's major content released throughout 2025. This content includes the new zone and main storyline (split into two parts called Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 and Part 2), both dungeon packs released in 2025 (Fallen Banners and Feast of Shadows), and special bonus collectibles.

The terms "Season" and "Seasonal content" have caused confusion, as they often imply temporary content in gaming. However, in ESO, "Seasons" refer to thematic storylines spanning several updates, such as the year-long story in 2019's Season of the Dragon.

What Content is Included in the ESO 2025 Content Pass

ESO 2025 Content Pass vs Premium Edition: Which one to Buy

In essence, the Premium Edition bundles the base game, all previous Chapters, and the 2025 Content Pass. The ESO Content Pass is for existing players who already own the base game and previous Chapters (or don't need them immediately) and only want the new 2025 content as it is released throughout the year.

In conclusion, if you are an avid ESO Plus Member, you will pay more for the content in 2025, but in return you will have access to the DLC's even if your Membership lapses.

ESO 2025 Content Pass

If you are an existing player who already has access to the game’s previous Chapters or who is only interested in the new content releasing in 2025, the 2025 Content Pass is likely the best fit for you. This is similar as previously buying a Chapter Upgrade and requires that you own the base game.

Pros

  • Cost-effective
  • Permanently unlock the 2025 content.

Cons

  • Does not include previous Chapters
  • Does not include Warden, Necromancer or Arcanist Classes
  • Does not include the base game

ESO 2025 Premium Edition

  • Includes Warden, Necromancer and Arcanist Classes

Cons

  • More expensive
