Global passive bonuses during the Witches Festival 2025 Event in ESO

  • 100% more Experience passively. The Experience Buff stacks with Experience Scrolls and Ambrosias. You no longer need to use the Witchmother's Whistle for the Experience Buff.
  • Plunder Skulls drop from all Boss-type monsters. All Incursion, Quest, Delve, Public Dungeon, Dungeon, Trial, Arena,  Tho'at in Infinite Archive and World Bosses will drop Plunder Skulls.

The Witchmother's Whistle tool is still required to complete the Sacking Skeletons and Cauldron Conjurer achievements.

How to Participate in the Witches Festival 2025 Event in ESO

To get started in the Witches Festival Event in the Elder Scrolls Online, complete the following steps:

  • Navigate to the Events section of the Crown Store and acquire the free Event quest. You can also travel to The Witches Cove in Auridon, Glenumbra or Stonefalls.
  • Complete the quest “The Witchmother's Bargain" by acquiring Guts and Pumpkin from the world, guildies or guild store and an Essence of Death from any Delve Boss.
  • Return to Witchmother Olyve to receive your Witchmother's Whistle Tool if you're doing the quest for the first time.
  • You now have access two additional Event Daily Quests you can complete: Plucking the Crow and the The Lord of Fear Quest. Read more about them further down in the guide.

How to get Event Tickets in Witches Festival

During the Witches Festival Event, you can earn two event tickets per day when defeating a boss-type creature for the first time that day. The tickets alongside a Plunder Skull will need to be looted.

Boss types: Incursion, Quest, Delve, Public Dungeon, Dungeon, Trial, Arena, Tho'at in Infinite Archive and World Bosses.

How to get Plunder Skulls

During the Witches Festival, you'll earn two types of reward containers: Normal Plunder Skulls and Dremora Plunder Skulls. While both offer great loot, only Dremora Plunder Skulls contain the newest event items.

  • Normal Plunder Skulls drop from any defeated boss in the world during the Witches Festival. This includes bosses in delves, public dungeons, world bosses, group dungeons, trials, arenas, and even Imperial City Sweepers. There is no daily limit on how many normal Plunder Skulls you can acquire.
  • Dremora Plunder Skulls are special, once-per-day, per-account rewards. You receive one Dremora Plunder Skull for defeating the first boss of a specific type each day. There are 10 unique Dremora Plunder Skull types, each linked to a different boss category.

The fastest and easiest way to earn Plunder Skulls (and no competing for loot)

In ESO only the top 12 damage dealers get loot from bosses excluding incursions. We recommended you pick an activity where you feel you get the best rewards for your time. Have fun farming!

  1. Easy dungeons: You can quickly clear Normal Fungal Grotto I Dungeon with a group of four damage dealers. The bosses are easy, the mechanics are simple, there's no competition for loot and you don't need to wait for boss spawns.
  2. Incursions: Join an incursion group. Geysers in Summerset, Harrowstorms in The Reach, Dragons in Northern Elsweyr/Southern Elsweyr, Volcanic Vents in Galen and Y'ffelon/ High Isle and Amenos, Mirrormoor Mosaics in West Weald and Siege Camp in Solstice awards the loot to everyone that hits the boss even once with a light attack.
  3. Minmax your farm: Combine farming Plunder Skulls with some other farming you're going to do anyway! This is a good time to farm missing Antiquity leads from different Boss types. Another popular farm is killing Dragons in Southern Elsweyr as they drop expensive alchemy reagents you can sell to other players: Dragon's Blood and Dragon Rheum*.

Avoid Crowded Places: Avoid Alik'r Desert Dolmens, unless you're sure you'll be in the top 12 damage dealers (chests don't drop Plunder Skulls, only the bosses do). All other dolmens are less crowded and fine places to farm. World Bosses can be a good source of Plunder Skulls if they're not crowded or if you can always deal enough damage to get loot.

*Dragon Rheum starts dropping after you've completed the Dragonguard Operative achievement and the The Good Bits quest from Dahfnar in Southern Elsweyr.

Icon icon Bust: Lord Hollowjack This is a standard house collectible.
Icon icon Exorcised Coven Cottage Pay no attention to the rumors: this witches hut on the edge of Hag Fen in Glenumbra is guaranteed NOT to be haunted by the dead, the undead, or restless spirits of any kind. It does come with tumbledown walls to keep the crocodiles and wolves out. Spooky!
Icon icon Hagmatron's Body Markings Inked markings are drawn, as if by dark magic, across the bodies of Hagraven supplicants.
Icon icon Hagmatron's Face Markings Hagraven supplicants bear the inked claw of the matron upon their face. If they later leave her service, the mark fades over time. Or so the witchfolk claim.
Icon icon Hollowjack Spectre Mask It's a Witches Festival tradition to masquerade as Hollowjack the Hollowjack Spectre, menacing the adults and mock-frightening the timid. If that sounds like fun to you, this mask is just what you're looking for.
Icon icon Marshmallow Toasty Treat Toast your marshmallows and eat the ooey-gooey result. Tasty!
Icon icon Plunder Skull Blunder Some plunder skulls have treats. But this one seems to have a spider? And a bat? And even a ghost? Maybe this skull possessed—or is possessed by—only tricks. Best put it away quickly.
Icon icon Pumpkin Spectre Mask It's a Witches Festival tradition to masquerade as Hollowjack the Pumpkin Spectre, menacing the adults and mock-frightening the timid. If that sounds like fun to you, this mask is just what you're looking for.
Icon icon Scarecrow Spectre Mask Folk all across Tamriel know that during the Witches Festival you don't linger near the harvested fields, lest the Scarecrow Spectre come and take your head. Now you can masquerade as this legendary bogeyman!
Icon icon Skeletal Marionette Be the life of your party with this cute little skeleton marionette! It dances! It prances! It hangs from strings, ready for you to make it move! (Creepy skeleton voice not included.)
Icon icon Thicketman Spectre Mask Folk all across Tamriel know that during the Witches Festival you don't linger near the harvested fields, lest the Thicketman Spectre come and take your head. Now you can masquerade as this legendary bogeyman!
Icon icon Throwing Bones Peer into your future with these augury bones! Give them a toss and read the portents that await.

Icon icon Witch-Tamed Bear-Dog Few Reach witches make the effort to invest eldritch magic into unborn pups, train them to draw attention without fear, and decorate them with eerie skeletal bone markings. All it takes is one look to either fear this canine or love it beyond reason.
Icon icon Witches Festival Ghost Netch While it's unclear whether this little netch understands the nuances behind the Witches Festival's many traditions, its joyous tootling is reason enough to let it join in the celebrations.
Icon icon Witchmother's Whistle Use this whistle to summon the Witchmother's Cauldron. During the harvest, drinking the cauldron's brew may have additional effects.
