While combat pets in ESO are generally supposed to help the player out by providing damage or healing to you, some pets have been giving their owners a pretty bad deal lately, and you might not even be aware that it's happening!
Today we'll be looking at a weird new bug that's been uncovered by members of the trial community in the Elder Scrolls Online, which can cause your pets to steal ultimate that they don't have any use for...
How Pets are Stealing Ultimate in ESO
Now, before you rush to unslot your pets, there's a good chance you don't need to worry about this affecting you. This is a bug specifically affecting the Pillager's Profit set - a support set that distributes Ultimate to your team whenever you use your own Ultimate.
The problem presents itself mostly in organized groups, primarily for trials, but it could probably affect PvP too. Pillager's Profit can only share Ultimate with up to 11 allies, and player pets (such as Sorcerer pets, Warden Bears and Necromancer Blastbones) are being mistakenly counted as allies in this context.
Obviously these pets cannot cast any Ultimate abilities, so when this happens, the pet gets a share of the Ultimate that's meant for players, and the effect of the set is completely wasted.
We're not sure exactly when this bug found its way into the game, but reports of it began to appear on the Official ESO Forums just after the launch of Necrom on PC. It was discovered by trial players looking at ESO Logs after their raid, and finding that the pets were recieving ultimate from Pillager's Profit.
So if you're using this set in your group, you may want to either use something else for now, or ask your friends to drop the pets if you're adamant that you want to use the set.
There's been no response from Zenimax about this bug as of yet, but hopefully with the console launch of Necrom out of the way they will now have more time for fixing things like this.
