Everything we know about ESO Legacy of the Bretons and ESO High Isle

The Elder Scrolls Online just revealed their 2022 story-arc, which will be called Legacy of the Bretons. Its center piece will be the chapter of 2022, named High Isle. Here is a recap about everything that was revealed.

2022 Chapter: The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle.

The 2022 chapter is called "High Isle" and will take place on never before explored islands which are located north-west of Summerset. The island group is called "the Systres archipellago", with the High Isle being their crown jewel.

The zone will be a Breton dominated area which will focus heavily on their lore and politics. Bretons have always been in the background of the Elder Scrolls Online. So it is great to finally see them get some well deserved attention. The particular culture on these islands will reflect a feudal society reminiscent of society in the late middle-ages of Europe. The architecture and zone design is heavily inspired by older mediterranean cities and locales, bright, white with beautiful shores.

The story will focus on secret peace negotiatons for the 3-Banners-War between the three alliances. There are two new factions introduced. One of them wants Tamriel to return to peace, and one of them wants to sabotage the peace talks. The peaceful faction is called the "Society of the Steadfast". The evil faction is called the "Ascendant Order" which is lead by the mysterious "Ascendant Lord".

The zone will feature the usual points of interest, world bosses, delves, quest hubs and world events. Next to that there will also be a new 12-player trial called Dread Sail Reef. There will be a new world event called "Volcanic Vents", they will be roughly similar to the Geysers found in Summerset.

Furthermore two prominent ESO characters will see a return this year. They will be Jakarn from Stros M'Kai and Za'ji from Southern Elsweyr.

The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle will release on June 6th 2022 for PC, and two weeks later for consoles.

New game system, ingame card game: Tales of Tribute

With the chapter comes a new game system. It will be an ingame card game that can be played against NPCs as well as other players. It is a two-player game involving cards and decks that you can find while exploring Tamriel. Many things remain a mystery about this game, but here is a list of what we know:
  • Tales of Tribute is a two player game
  • It has a tutorial, completing it will give you four starting decks
  • New and veteran players can play against each other without new players being at a disadvantage, as both decks are shuffled together at the start (meaning you will get a mix of your own cards and your opponent's cards)
  • There will be a storyline around the Tales of Tribute
  • The game is a resource-building/race type of game, it is not a combat based game
  • There will be rewards associated with it like furniture, collectibles, crafting materials, etc.

There will be two new companions this year. One of them is a female Khajiit called "Ember", the other one is a Breton called "Isobel". Both companions are female.

2022 Quarter 1 DLC: Ascending Tide

Ascending Tide will be the first DLC in the Legacy of the Bretons story-arc. It will contain two dungeons. The first one will be called Shipwright's Regret and it will be located in Rivenspire, the second one will be called Coral Aerie and is located in Summerset. One of them will have hard-modes for every single boss, and the other one will have secret bosses. Both dungeons will have a new monster set, and 3 new drop sets, for a total of 8 new sets (2 monster, 2 heavy, 2 medium, 2 light).

Deconstuction assistant

There will be a new assistant available in the Crown Store. This assistant will allow you to deconstruct gear on the go, which is very useful for people who are always running around with full inventories.

Two-player mounts

On a previous PTS cycle, we had two-player mounts. They were then never seen again. However, now with Ascending Tide two-player mounts are definitively coming to the Elder Scrolls Online. One of the two-player mounts will be the Duo-Dynamo Dwarven Spider. A horse that can carry two players was also shown on stream.

New Rewards for the Worthy and Imperial City sets

There will be six new item sets available in PvP. One light, one heavy and one medium armor set that will drop from the Rewards for the Worthy. There will also be three new monster sets that will drop in the Imperial City.

Accountwide achievements and titles

Ascending Tide brings accountwide achievements and titles, which means all your achievements, over all your characters will be combined into one big collection of completed achievements. This means you no longer have to complete every single achievement on all of your characters. The only thing that will not be accountwide is achievement progress. So if a particular achievement requires you to kill 10 vampires, that progress is tracked on a per character basis. Once completed, all your characters will have it completed though.

Ascending Tide will release on PC on March 14th 2022, and two weeks later for consoles.
