This year's final DLC and major update for ESO will launch tomorrow.
It will conclude the Legacy of the Bretons storyline that has been the focus of this year's story content, and offer new lore insight into the relationship between the Bretons and the Druids.
Here's an overview of what's new in the Firesong DLC and Update.
New Zone and Story Content in ESO Firesong
This DLC is mainly story focused content, meaning that most of what's new will be overland content, including delves and the like. A new zone, Galen and Y'ffelon will be the setting of the DLC, and will allow players to continue the Legacy of the Bretons storyline.
What's more, if you complete the main story of both High Isle and Firesong, you will unlock some bonus story quests that will provide a hint about next year's Chapter and year-long storyline.
Galen and Y'ffelon contains delves, world bosses and Volcanic Vents, but will not include any group instances such as trials or arenas.
There will also be a new Tales of Tribute deck for you to obtain if you own the DLC - the Druid King deck. We already have a guide explaining how to obtain the deck, in case you want to get it right away.
New Mythic Items
Firesong will include three new Mythic items to obtain. You can click on them to find out the lead locations:
Note that to obtain these mythic items, you will also need the Greymoor DLC. To learn more about using the Antiquities system to obtain Mythics and other items, see our ESO Antiquities Guide.
New Armour Sets
Firesong will bring three new Overland sets to the game, which you will be able to obtain from bosses, world events and treasure chests in Galen and Y'ffelon and its subzones (delves, etc). The new sets are:
There will also be three new craftable sets. You will be able to craft them by finding and using their associated crafting stations in Galen, as long as you have enough traits researched for the pieces that you want to craft. The new crafted sets are:
- Chimera's Rebuke (7 traits)
- Old Growth Brewer (3 traits)
- Claw of the Forest Wraith (5 traits)
Combat and Balance Changes
Alongisde the Firesong DLC, there will also be a base game update that includes some balance changes. There are less of these changes than usual - it seems that the developers at Zenimax decided to let the dust settle after the rather chaotic Lost Depths update before making too many more changes.
However, there are still a few notable changes - here are a few of the most important ones:
- Backlash and its morphs have been reworked - you will no longer be able to have several instances of the skill active at once - if you cast it again before your initial cast has run its course, then it will remove the previous one. Also, the final damage tick from these skills will now have a guaranteed value depending on your damage stats, but will require damage dealt to the target to reach the same final damage values as before.
- The healing from Resolving Vigor has been nerfed by 10%
- Damage per stage of the Occult Overload Champion Passive nerfed by over half and given a 1 second cooldown, but it will now also apply a random status effect to enemies and no longer has a maximum target cap of 6 enemies.
