The Gold Road Chapter was released on the PTS (Public Test Server) on April 15th for PC players to test all the new additions coming in June such as: Scribing, Mythic items, mounts, pets, Skill Styles, Lucent Citadel Trial and more.
Check out all new Gold Road Sets (PTS).
What no one expected was the PTS changes to affect the PC NA live (North American) megaserver. Here’s what happened:
As soon as the Gold Road PTS opened up with the NA character copies, players logged in to do their usual setups and testing. After logging out of the PTS and back onto the PC NA live server, players noticed that they had their template characters with all the gear, gold and all other PTS items on the live server. Characters that were deleted on the PTS were now deleted on the live server as well.
Community Manager ZOS_Kevin quickly responded on the forums that the PTS was being taken down for investigation along with the PC NA live server. The PC NA server was down for approximately 8 hours and PTS is still down at the time of writing this article.
All players that logged onto the PTS have been notified by email that their accounts are locked for all PC Megaservers for approximately 2-3 days. Zenimax will roll back the affected PC NA accounts to April 15th at 9:30am EDT. Affected players will see an “Account Banned” message when trying to login, but Gina explains that this is how the system identifies locked accounts and players are not actually banned/suspended.
All players that logged on to PTS regardless of whether they play on PC EU or NA are locked, however the rollback is only happening to the PC NA accounts. Gina mentioned that they plan to make things right later this week and that any ill-gotten gains from this issue, such as items and all currency that may have been distributed, will be removed from the economy.
