How to Find the Perfect Guild in Elder Scrolls Online

How to Find the Perfect Guild in Elder Scrolls Online
If you’re a newer player in the Elder Scrolls Online, you may not have joined a guild just yet, or maybe you have, but didn’t have the best of experiences. There are so many player guilds in the game that finding the right one for you can seem like a mammoth task.

I do absolutely recommend getting involved with guilds in ESO though, as it can help to unlock a lot of the most fun stuff in the game, and is a great way to make friends, too.

Luckily, the game provides us with a slightly hidden tool that allows us to find guilds much more easily than via zone chat.

How to find the Guild Finder in ESO

ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) has a Guild Finder tool that we can use to search for and apply to join many different player guilds. Accessing this is slightly different on PC and console.

On PC, press G to open the Guilds screen, and then click the drop-down menu at the top of the Guilds menu. Next, choose “Guild Finder”.

On consoles, navigate to the Social menu, then into Guilds, and then into Guild Finder.

How to use the Guild Finder in ESO

Once you have opened the Guild Finder, you should see two sections. The first is the Applications section. Here you can remind yourself of any applications you have sent to guilds.

But first we will need to use the Browse Guilds section. When you have selected this, you should see that guilds are divided into several categories to make it easier to find what you are looking for. You can also apply more advanced filters, such as which language people in the guild speak, what times they are active, what roles they are looking for, or whether they are focused on casual or hardcore activities.

Most guilds that are recruiting in the Guild Finder will have taken the time to write a fairly detailed description of what they do. Simply select a guild to read more about it.

When you find a guild that you like the look of, you just need to send an application to them. It’s generally fine to just write a sentence or two introducing yourself and what you hope to find in the guild. More hardcore guilds sometimes have more stringent entry requirements, and applicants will normally write about these in the application message in these cases, but if you are joining your first guild then you probably won’t need to worry about this.

After you have sent the application, the Guildmaster or an Officer in that guild will receive it, and be able to accept or decline your application. If they accept it, you will be added to the guild’s roster automatically. If for some reason they declined the application, then they may also include a short message explaining the reason for this, although this is not always the case.
