ESO: Everything we know about the new Season of the Worm Cult in 2025

Seasons are replacing Chapters in ESO. Here is everything we know so far about the new season coming in June 2025.

Seasons are replacing ESO Chapters going forward, but what exactly are seasons? Instead of concentrating on a new chapter and a new system each year, ZOS wants ESO to be one big virtual playing ground.

The first ever season of ESO will still feel a bit like a Chapter, that is intentional to ease players into the new concept going forward. Things will change up more next year!

The first ever season will feel like a chapter to ease players into the formula. However, instead of purchasing a chapter you will purchase a "Content Pass" (Separate from an ESO Plus Subscription). However, next year's season will differ from 2025, potentially lasting anywhere from three to six months or even longer.

Purchasing the 2025 Content pass will permanently unlock the following content for your account:

Q1 Already Live Fallen Banners Dungeon Pack
Q2 June 2025 Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 New Zone and Story
Q3 2025 Writhing Wall Event + Feast of Shadows  World Changing in-game Event + Dungeon Pack
Q4 2025 Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 Zone Expansion and Story Finale

Season of the Worm Cult Part 1

Fallen Banners is already live, but you probably wonder what is coming in the big content pack in June 2025. The Season of the Worm Cult Part 1 will offer the following:

  • New Zone & Story
  • New Welcome Back Features
  • Subclasses (base game, everyone will have access)
  • New Trial — Ossein Cage
  • New Cosmetics
  • New Sets & more!
  • Cyrodiil Champions

We won't touch on everything in this article, but here are the most impactful changes or new systems that are coming in ESO's 2025 season.

Subclasses are coming to ESO!

Going forward ESO will allow you to add subclasses to your character. This will allow you to build pretty much anything on one character. Of course there are a few limitations in place. You will always have one of your primary class skill-lines active, but you are allows to select two other skill-lines from any class! Read more about this in our ESO Subclasses - Everything you need to know article!

Update 46 Base Game Quality of Life changes

In addition to new things being added to base game, update 46 will bring a new perk for ESO Plus Members: The Furnishing Vault! Furnishing Vault is account wide and stores 500 unique furnishing stacks up to 1000+. You finally have a place to put all those Daedric Throne, Skulls ;)

  • Furnishing Vault (ESO Plus subscription perk)
  • Console Add-ons
  • PS5 Pro Support
  • 3 New Houses
  • Stackable Master Writs
  • Further in-game map changes
  • Improved Tutorials for the Wayshrine system

Our ESO-Hub team is hard at work adding more functions like the ESO House Catalogue which lets you browse all homes! Additionally: Clicking on a house will show more info such as pricing, furnishing/player limits, which furnishing comes with the house and if there are requirements.

Cyrodiil Champions will return for more testing

We already reported once about ZOS's first ESO Cyrodiil Champions Test. Cyrodiil Champions allows everyone to play Cyrodiil on an even playing field no matter how long you have played ESO. Everyone uses the same basic abilities. Cyrodiil has suffered from lag issues for a long time, having less systems going off all the time will reduce or completely remove the lag. This will allow for bigger fights to happen again.

The developers goal is to bring Cyrodiil back to what it was initially meant to do. Epic sized battles that we all experienced during the early days of ESO.
