Dragonknights are getting a strong buff to their healing in the next ESO update
Among the plethora of combat ability changes coming to ESO with the Ascending Tide DLC and update, as seen in the PTS patch notes, one change that may be of particular interest to Dragonknight players is the Burning Embers rework.

Currently on the live server, Burning Embers does an initial hit of direct damage when you cast it on an enemy, and then applies subsequent damage over time for the next ten seconds. It then heals you for 75% of the damage inflicted in that time period.

This gave you an option for a delayed burst heal, but you could get the healing early if you needed it by casting the skill again on the same target. This functionality is going to change in the next patch, however.

How is Burning Embers changing in the next ESO update?

Once ESO’s Ascending Tide DLC comes out, the skill will instead instantly heal you for 100% of the damage done by the skill, whenever it deals damage, rather than waiting for the duration to run out.

This not only increases the amount of healing you get overall, but also means that Burning Embers will now act as a class Heal over Time skill for Dragonknights, increasing their overall durability in combat in both PvE and PvP scenarios, and reducing their reliance on other healing abilities like Green Dragon Blood.

How this will affect gameplay for ESO’s Dragonknights

Previously, many Dragonknight players were making use of Cauterize and the Ring of the Pale Order to supplement their lack of a heal over time skill.

Now though it is likely that many will be comfortable changing to Flames of Oblivion for more damage, and Pale Order could also be dropped for something else, but it might be kept by some players as it is a very strong item in its own right.

Ascending Tide will release on March 14th for PC/Mac users, and March 29th for console players.
