Power Difference

Weapons have a huge power increase compared to armor in The Elder Scrolls Online. Therefore it is always important to upgrade your weapons before upgrading anything else. Now lets take a look at an example to see why!

Example - Vicious Serpent

In this example we are going to take a look at a set called [Vicious Serpent]. We are picking this on because the 5 piece bonus is the same both on Epic and Legendary quality, that way the 5 piece bonus won't affect our stats. With weapons it is important to look at their damage, because that is what will change the most from Epic to Legendary quality and that is also responsible for the huge damage boost that we gain.

  • Epic: 1132
  • Legendary: 1335

That is a difference of 203 damage which gets further increased by modifiers. Therefore it is always important to get to the highest quality as fast as possible with your weapon.

Conclusion

Upgrading your weapon is more important than upgrading your armor, because it will give you a huge extra damage boost, whereas upgrading your armor only gives a tiny bit of a stat increase. Therefore it should always be your goal first to upgrade your weapon before anything else.
