Who is Ithelia? The Elder Scrolls Online reveals a new Daedric Prince

Who is Ithelia? The Elder Scrolls Online reveals a new Daedric Prince

With the new chapter Gold Road, a new Daedric Prince is introduced for the first time in the history of ESO. The new chapter also introduces Scribing, a precursor to Spellcrafting.

As a reminder: Daedra are immortal creatures from the planes of Oblivion. They exist in many variations. The Daedric Princes are the highest-ranking and most powerful among them. Each of them has unique abilities. Among the inhabitants of Tamriel, they are feared by many because their powers, but partly revered and worshiped. Regardless of the gender of their appearance, each of them is called Prince. Until now, only 17 of them were known.

Most players of the ESO community should be familiar with Molag Bal and Sheogorath, as well as Hermaeus Mora from last year’s chapter Necrom. The latter Daedric Prince is also the one who knows more about the previously unknown Daedric Prince Ithelia, who is introduced to us as the antagonist in this year’s new chapter.

Who is Ithelia and why did we not know her?

In the chapter Necrom, there was a cliffhanger and we learned that there is an unknown Daedric Prince. Only Hermaeus Mora knew something of her existence and that had a good reason. She, Ithelia, is called the Mistress of the Untraveled Road, the Unseen and the Fate Changer. She has the ability to alter fate and manipulate destiny to her liking.

Not all Daedric Princes are inherently evil. However, each of them pursues their own intentions and some of them caused a lot of chaos in Tamriel in the past. Hermaeus Mora and other Daedra recognized the danger that Ithelia’s abilities posed and decided at some point in the second era that this had to be stopped. He convinced all other Daedric Princes except Vaermina and Peryite to help him stop Ithelia. To do this, all memories of her were erased from everyone else except him. He could not eliminate his own memory of her and so he locked it in three primordial glyphs.

What do we know about the reappearance of Ithelia?

In the cinematic trailer for Gold Road, we see Ithelia breaking out of her prison and the next moment she strolls through Skingrad, free under the sun. But how did she escape? What happened? In the trailer we see the Dremora Torvesard, who opens a portal in an Ayleid ruin with a staff and disappears through the portal. Parallel to this, we see how Ithelia can loosen her bonds.

What we know from Necrom is that Torvesard, plagued by dreams, enters into an alliance with Vaermina and Peryite. All three have become suspicious of Hermaeus Mora and have found out that he has stolen memories from them. During an attack on his realm Apocrypha, Torvesard manages to reach two of the three glyphs and thus regain part of his memories.

How will it continue?

During the Global Reveal Event 2024, Ed Stark (Zone Lead, ESO) gave us insights into how the threads of these stories are now taken up in Gold Road. An ally of Hermaeus Mora returns, Leramil the Wise, and begins to investigate the events and the return of Ithelia. She finds out that there seems to be some connection between Ithelia and the Ayleids. Their scions are desperately trying to regain the memory of the forgotten Daedric Prince. Why Ithelia is returning and what plan she is pursuing remains unknown. Only with the release of the new chapter will we be able to see how all this will affect Tamriel or even all of Nirn and how we as adventurers can stop Ithelia’s influence.

Among others, Bergaron, who wrote us a letter before and is the brother of Eveli Sharparrow, and tribune Alea Idolu, “a brash Colovian Centurion working for Count Calantius”, will support us on our journey.

Collectors beware!

The new chapter Gold Road will be released on June 6 for PC and on June 18 for consoles. Only then will we know what exactly the new Daedric Prince is all about. But if you can’t get enough of Ithelia and are always looking for something special, pay attention. Collectors’ hearts will be happy that there will be a detailed figure of a Daedric Prince again this year.

You can pre-order a limited figure of Ithelia in the Bethesda online shop for 175 US dollars. There will only be 3,300 pieces of it worldwide and it will be delivered to you with a letter of authenticity. The figure has a height of 24 cm, a width of 14 and a depth of 15 cm. It is made of polyresin and is also supposed to find its way to you in June parallel to the release of the new chapter.
