It's almost the time of year for spooky goings-on in ESO. The Witches Festival is an annual event in the Elder Scrolls Online, and it's set to begin in less than a week's time. Today we will go over what's new in this year's Witches Festival, along with the basics of how it works for players who are new to this event.
How Does the Witches Festival Work in ESO?
The Witches Festival is an annual event in the Elder Scrolls Online that encourages players to participate in spooky activities for extra rewards. The Witches Festival will begin on October 20th and last until November 2nd.
To get started with the Witches Festival, simply pick up the free quest titled "The Witchmother's Bargain" in the Crown Store. Complete the quest to acquire the Witchmother's Whistle tool, which you can subsequently find in the Tools section of your Collections menu. If you completed this in a previous Witches Festival then you don't need to do it again.
You can use the whistle at any time during the event to summon a cauldron and get a two hour XP 100% buff, which can be reactivated as many times as you need during the event. If you drink from the summoned cauldron you will transform into a skeleton, however you don't need to do that to get the XP buff.
Note that the XP buff stacks with other similar effects, such as XP scrolls, so it's a great time for leveling up new characters or skill lines.
How to Earn Rewards in the ESO Witches Festival
There are a few different types of rewards that will be available during the Witches Festival.
Daily Quest Rewards
Firstly, there will be a daily quest that you can acquire by speaking to Witchmother Taerma near any Impresario tent, or in Olyve's Brewery. Completing this quest will reward you with a Crowborne Horror Plunder Skull, which has a small chance to contain fragments of the Witch-Tamed Bear-Dog pet, the full Dremora style book, a folio of all Glenmoril Treasure Maps, a Ghastly Visitation runebox or a style page from the Witchmother's Servant style. If it doesn't contain any of those, it will instead contain rewards from normal plunder skulls (more on those below).
Plunder Skull Rewards
Plunder Skulls are a special reward container that you can loot when you defeat a boss during the Witches Festival.
The first boss of each type you defeat per day will yield a higher quality Dremora Plunder Skull, which is guaranteed to drop a page from the Dremora style along with a chance to drop a Witches Festival writ, a Glenmoril Treasure Map, along with style pages and memento runeboxes.
The different boss types are arena bosses, invasion bosses (from world events) delve bosses, public dungeon bosses, group dungeon final bosses and world bosses.
Otherwise, you will get a normal Plunder Skull whenever you defeat a boss during the event. Plunder Skulls may contain a range of thematic items, including a fragment of the Witch-Tamed Bear-Dog pet, alchemy reagents, furnishings, and style pages from the Hollowjack and Dremora styles.
How to Earn Event Tickets in the Witches Festival
Each day, you can earn two Event Tickets, simply by defeating any boss in the game. You can spend these Event Tickets at either the Impresario or the Indrik Vendor. Remember that you can only hold 12 Event Tickets at a time, so if you're almost full then remember to spend some before collecting more, so that none are wasted.
New Impresario Items in the Witches Festival 2022
As usual for events in 2022, the Impresario will sell all three fragments of the Soulfire Dragon Illusion pet. However this time she will finally be selling the first fragment of the Sacred Hourglass of Alkosh, a new special furnishing that will allow you to set a fixed time of day in your player homes.
This will be a great item for you if you want a thematic appearance in your home, such as having a haunted house that you want to always be dark.
The Impresario will also sell the Ghastly Visitation memento, pages from the Witchmother's Servant style and special event furnishings, along with the usual Impresario items such as group repair kits.
She'll also be selling an item called the Witches Grab Bag, which will contain one guaranteed item from previous years' Witches Festivals, so if you missed out on stuff before then you still have a way of obtaining it.
Which Indriks are Available during the Witches Festival 2022?
The Indrik Vendor will be selling all four fragments of the Nascent Indrik, Pure-Snow Indrik, and Crimson Indrik. She will also sell the Frost-Light Indrik and Rosethorn Indrik pets.
