How Elder Scrolls Online Players will be Compensated following Recent Server Issues
By Andrew | 25 Mar 2022 |It's been a tumultuous couple of weeks for the ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) PC NA megaserver.
Following the Ascending Tide DLC and update, players began to have problems with the Activity Finder. Then around the same time that Zenimax began their "Cold Storage" upgrade on the megaserver database, further problems began to emerge, such as very long log-in times and a further deterioration of the Activity Finder to the point that it barely worked.
ESO's Game Director Matt Firor posted a statement on the ESO Forums this afternoon, explaining exactly what had happened. It turned out that the performance issues were unrelated to the database maintenance, and were actually caused by a failing network port which had to be replaced, leading to the resolution of these problems.
Extra Rewards for ESO Players
Towards the end of the statement, Matt also expressed regret that players may have lost time and progress as a result of the server downtime, and promised players on all platforms and megaservers some items to help them catch up, which are as follows:- Five 150% experience scrolls, which can be claimed from the first day of April's log-in rewards. These will stack with the 100% boost from The Pie of Misrule in the Jester's Festival. leading to some potentially huge experience gains. If you've been meaning to level a character up or grind champion points then this is certainly looking like the right time to do it.
- Tripled reward from Weekly Endeavors for the week of the 4th of April.
Forum users responding to the statement were supportive of it, signalling their gratitude that Zenimax were being transparent and explaining exactly what had happened, in detail.
