ESO U50 Brings Guild Mail, Doubled Companion XP and More QoL

Guild mail, faster companion leveling, transmute stations everywhere and two unannounced things we noticed during the stream.

ZOS hosted a livestream on March 26 covering Update 50's player experience improvements with Team Lead Kira Ross Schlitt. All of these changes arrive with U50 in June 2026 as part of Season Zero.  

Path to Adventure: New ESO Golden Pursuit for New Players

Path to Adventure is a new Golden Pursuit for new players and returning players under level 20. It guides you through core systems like skyshards, mounts and bag upgrades after leaving Coldharbour. 

ESO Crafting and Itemization Improvements

  • Motifs in the Crown Store now show where to get them in-game. 
  • Exemplary items can now be deconstructed (Nirnhoned)
  • Transmute Stations added to Mages Guilds in most Major Capitals
  • The new Mages Guild-themed Transmute Station iconTransmute Station is also available as a furnishing

Vampire and Werewolf Updates in ESO

  • Shrines renamed from Molag Bal to Lamae Bal to fix a lore error
  • Bug fix for returning vampires and werewolves unable to pick up bite quests
  • Flirt options added to both NPCs
  • Priest of Arkay cure is now free

Guild Mail Coming to ESO in Update 50

Guild leaders can now send mail directly to guild members through the guild interface.

  • Max 5 active mails with 14-day expiration
  • Leaders can grant mail permissions to other ranks later
  • This feature came from the ESO Guild Summit

Quality of Life Changes in ESO Update 50

  • Daily quest limit goes from 50 to 100. 
  • Companion EXP rates are doubled with higher rapport increasing gains further. 
  • AFK timer in character create extended from 5 to 15 minutes. 
  • The "Back" button on the character select screen now correctly says "Log Out."  

Unannounced things we noticed

Two new quest starters were spotted in the Crown Store during the stream:

  • Sheogorath Takes a Holiday
  • The Codex Caper

and a new map icon in Glenumbra:

What's Next for ESO

  • Update 50 hits PTS on April 13.
  • Cross-play is actively in development but will not arrive in 2026.
  • PvP updates will be covered in the Seasons Direct on March 31 and the April 9 dev stream.
