Elder Scrolls Online Endeavors - One Year On

It's now been a year since the  Endeavors system was introduced to the Elder Scrolls Online.

Endeavors are definitely appreciated by a lot of players, as they allow you to get extra rewards just for playing the game, which would normally cost real money. Let's have a quick look back at them.

What are Endeavors in ESO

If you're new to the game or haven't played much over the last year, then you might not know what Endeavors are.

Endeavors are basically account wide daily and weekly quests that are randomly generated and are the same for all players each time. There are five new Endeavors available each day, of which you can complete three, and there are three weekly Endeavors available, from which you can complete one.

Completing endeavors automatically awards you with a special currency, Seals of Endeavor, which are basically an alternative way to get Crown Crate items without needing to spend real money. Most Crown Crate items have a seperate price in Crown Gems and Seals of Endeavor. The rarer items are of course quite expensive, but the system has been going long enough now that players who were diligent with completing the endeavors could have bought pretty much anything they wanted by now.

Most of the time, completing a daily endeavor gives you between 10 and 20 seals of endeavor, and a weekly endeavor gives you between 150 and 250, but occasionally there can be higher or lower amounts and sometimes there are additional rewards included, such as experience, gold or transmute crystals. The rewards are somewhat randomized.

Interesting events with ESO Endeavors

The most interesting thing that happened with Endeavors was back in April, when rewards for Weekly Endeavors was tripled for a week for all players due to some server problems on the PC NA megaserver that caused substantial downtime and took several days to resolve. The base reward amount for that week was also set to the maximum possible amount of 400, so players got a whopping 1,200 Seals of Endeavor from the weekly endeavor that week. Players at the time were quite unhappy with the lost progress resulting from server downtime, so Zenimax felt the need to compensate players.

Initially when Endeavors were introduced, the variation in their rewards caused some confusion as players thought they had been immediately nerfed, however it was then pointed out that the initial ESO News post that announced the Seals of Endeavor system had actually said that rewards would vary.
