ESO: Jewelry Crafting is Changing with Update 40

ESO: Jewelry Crafting is Changing with Update 40

Update 40 releases on October 30 for PC and November 14 for Console. This is a free update for ESO, that means everyone will be able to access the new features and the new Endless Archive with the new Class-Sets.

Today we want to focus on the Jewelry Crafting changes that will occur when ESO's Update 40 is launching. The devs want to get Jewelry Crafting more in line with other crafting proficiencies. Right now Jewelry Crafting is far more expensive than any of the other professions.

Grains and Platings

Jewelry crafting Grains are going away. Only platings will exist from Update 40 and onwards. Your Grains will simply be changed into Platings. Now it is important to mention that your current Platings won't be trashed because of the change. 1 Plating (Current U39), will be changed into 10 Platings (U40). Otherwise it would be unfair.

  • 1 Plating U39 will be changed into 10 Platings U40
  • 1 Grain U39 is changed into 1 Plating U40
  • Grains are removed completely with U40
  • Only Platings remain going forward with U40

That means going forward you will only have Platings that you have to deal with in ESO. The old versions of Grains and Platings will remain in your inventory, they are now called "Ancient Grains" and Ancient Platings".

Booster Changes

Boosters needed to upgrade jewelry have been increased to match that of other crafting types. Don't worry, the overall cost to upgrade rings or amulets is going down drastically because of the above changes.

As an example, below you can see the Runecarver's Blaze Necklace that now costs 8 Platings to upgrade (U40) from purple to gold quality. With the new U40 setting applied to the old version, it would have cost 40 Platings (or 4 in old terms U39).

Therefore you can see that upgrading has become tremendously cheaper and more in line with other proficiencies.

Master Crafting Writs

ZOS also mentioned that Master Crafting Writs will be rebalanced to account for these changes. Existing crafting writs will be unchanged, but the new ones from Update 40 will have the rebalanced formula.

Golden Vendor Jewelry Price Change

Prices for Golden Vendor jewelry are also changing in Update 40, they are cheaper now.

  • Overland Jewelry will now cost 125,000 gold, or 225,000 AP.
  • Dungeon Jewelry will now cost 200,000 gold, or 375,000 AP.
