Why You Should Always Search the Bookshelves in ESO

Why You Should Always Search the Bookshelves in ESO

There are many bookshelves scattered around Tamriel. They can be found pretty much anywhere indoors, be it in taverns, people's houses or in dungeons.

Even if you are not too interested in reading books in the Elder Scrolls Online, it is still worth having a quick look at them when you find bookshelves in the game, as they can provide small benefits that help your character along.

Why is it good to read books in ESO?

Reading the books might not need any incentive if you are interested in the lore or just enjoy reading things in general. However for a lot of players this is not the case.

There are however a couple of potential benefits from searching the bookshelves in ESO.

The most common benefit is that you will find a page from a skill book which will increase one of your character's skills by one level. This is especially useful if you are levelling up a new character, or need to level a skill that you haven't used before to try out a new build. In general leveling up skills never hurts, and you can do it by pressing one button whenever you encounter a bookshelf. This won't happen every time, but it's common enough to make it definitely worthwhile to search the books.

In short, checking all of the bookshelves is a very quick and very easy way to speed along the progression of your characters in ESO. It certainly isn't the quickest way to level up any given skill, but it offers more of a helping hand to make things just a bit faster, especially if you don't like long grinding sessions dedicated to leveling up a particular combat or crafting skill.
