Three Essential Addons that All ESO Players Should Try

Players of the Elder Scrolls Online on PC and Mac are fortunate that they are able to choose from a huge amount of player-made addons to enhance their gameplay experience. Addons can perform a wide variety of functions, including UI improvements, Quality of Life changes and skill trackers to help you optimize your combat performance.

Today we will look at three addons that we recommend to all players to help you kickstart your adventures in ESO.

Tired of constantly opening the map to see where you need to go?

From early screenshots of the game during development, it looks like ZOS was originally going to include a minimap in the game, however this was dropped for whatever reason.

However you can restore this functionality by installing Mini Map. The addon unsurprisingly adds a mini map to the game, which includes all the same features as the normal in-game map, but scaled down so you can have it open at all times without blocking the screen. The map has some nice customization options and can be moved and resized as you see fit, making it a very nice and convenient quality of life improvement.

Lore Books is another quality of life addon and it is also map related in a way.

This addon simply makes the grind to level up the Mages Guild skill line more bearable by putting all of the game’s Lore Books on the map. You will no longer need to constantly alt tab to check a map online, or painstakingly search every corner of Tamriel for the books you need. With this addon you can easily level up your Mages Guild in just a few hours, making preparing new characters a much less time consuming endeavor.

Action Duration Reminder is a great addon that will help you start to optimize your combat performance in ESO, no matter which role you are playing. If you are playing a support role where you need to keep buffs or debuffs applied to allies or enemies, then this addon is great for helping with that, and likewise if you are a DPS player trying to keep up your damage over time skills in an efficient rotation, then I highly recommend this addon to help you keep track of your ability timers.

The addon is simple in its design, not filling the screen with lots of bars or icons, but simply adding a timer above your skills which shows how much of their duration is remaining, and showing an alert on the screen when they are about to expire and need to be recast.

If you are just doing quests then you probably don’t need an addon like this, however if you want to move into dungeons, trials or PvP or are already doing these and want to improve your gameplay, then this addon is definitely worth a try.
