The Group finder is bugged again in Elder Scrolls Online

The Group finder is bugged again in Elder Scrolls Online

It's been a long running joke on the ESO forums that the PC EU server seems to get the lion's share of server problems and downtime, but this time it seems that it's PC NA's turn.

This article is pretty much just a PSA for players on the PC NA server trying to do the new Ascending Tide dungeons, or any dungeons in general, this week.

Group finder having problems in ESO

The group finder tool in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) is doubtless used by many thousands of players every day to quickly and easily find a group for a dungeon without having to search for players manually in zone chats or guilds.

It's definitely a useful tool but it does have a rocky history where it was in a bad state for a long time, taking a very long time to match players to a dungeon group, especially if you were queueing as a DPS player.

While it is usually better nowadays, it seems to have run into problems again since the Ascending Tide update went live. Oddly though it is only impacting the PC NA server this time around.

The Activity Finder is an important tool for dungeon-goers in ESOThe Activity Finder is an important tool for dungeon-goers in ESOPlayers in a thread on the ESO Forums began reporting on Tuesday (the day after the patch went live) that it was taking a very long time, sometimes literally hours, for the dungeon finder to match them with a suitable group, with some players just giving up after about half an hour.

According to players on the thread, Battleground queues are also impacted when queueing as a group, but the solo queue is still working as normal. It is quite common for group finder problems to be shared across both the dungeon group finder and the battleground queue, as both tools fulfill a similar purpose and therefore probably share some underlying coding.

It was soon ascertained that the problem is only present on PC NA, with several PC EU players saying that the tool still works fine for them.

Zenimax Community Manager Gina Bruno made an announcement on the forums yesterday on behalf of the developers, informing players that the problem was being looked at and that they would try to fix it over the course of the day, however there are still more players commenting today that it is broken, so it seems these efforts were not yet successful.

Hopefully it will be resolved soon, and you can keep an eye on the ESO forums for updates. In the meantime I would recommend just finding group-mates manually via zone chat or guilds, as it will likely be quicker than the group finder.
