New Crown Crates are Coming to ESO this Week - Here's What We Know
By Andrew | 29 Mar 2022 |It’s almost time for the newest batch of Crown Crates to come out in the Elder Scrolls Online.
On the Live server we currently have the Celestial Crown Crates, which include many items themed around the Cult of the Stars, the religion followed by the ancient Nedes of Craglorn during the Merethic and First Eras.
This Thursday 31st of April however, these will be replaced by the Sunken Relics Crown Crates, which include many aquatic themed items, concurrent with the theme of the upcoming High Isle chapter and the wider Legacy of the Bretons storyline.
What can I get from the new Crown Crates?
As usual, the Crown Crates will include a plethora of items such as special mounts, costumes, skins, pets, outfit styles and more. Zenimax has given us a preview of some of them, and here are some notable upcoming additions:
This rather green looking steed is infused with coral - something that seems to be a bit of a theme with this latest batch of Crown Crates, as you will soon discover. The Surfglow Courser also appears to be surrounded by an aura of floating fish, which is certainly something new. Perhaps it won't be everyone's cup of tea, and personally while I can applaud the design and attention to detail that went into it, the protrusions of coral remind me a little too much of the Cordyceps infection from the Last of Us. But well, if you really like fish (or mushrooms) then you'll love this horse!
This senche has a serene blue glow which is sure to make you stand out from the crowd, and may suit some particular outfit theme that you have going on, too. The coral growths are a little less "in your face" on this one which I also like. If I had to hazard a guess I would say that both the Cat o' War Senche Lion and the Surfglow Courser will be radiant apex mounts in these Crown Crates, making them very costly to obtain unless you are super lucky, but we will find out for sure on Thursday.
A new take on the dwarven spider mount type, the Coral Crawler Dwarven Spider has glowing red coral. In a way it almost looks more like a crab than a spider. I do like the Dwarven Spider mounts, and if you don't have one yet but want to get one, then this could be your chance to obtain one.
The Nereid's Seafoam Raiment seems to be the costume that's taking the spotlight in this iteration of Crown Crates. It is of course quite common for players to make attractive female characters and hastily equip them with the least protective outfit available in the game, and of course Zenimax knows this, so I wouldn't be surprised if this costume is on the pricey side. But perhaps I am wrong, we shall soon find out!
The Reefborn armaments style will be the newest addition to the game for players looking to spice up their weapons in ESO. It is quite well suited to more barbaric outfit styles, or pretty much anything that has an aquatic or sea-faring theme. As usual, there will be options for other weapon types, including staves, bows, shields, swords and more.
The Rainsiren Nereid is a scaly blue skin that has a few potential applications. Of course if you just want your character to be blue then you can use it for that, or you could try to create something resembling a Maormer or even a Tsaesci, although we don't have too much information about the lore or appearance of the latter.
These are only a few of the new items in the upcoming Sunken Relics Crown Crates. We only have to wait two days until we can browse and preview all of the items for ourselves.
