ESO's History of Hilarious Goblin Glitches
By Andrew | 7 May 2022 |One of the many costumes that you can get for your character in the Elder Scrolls Online is the goblin disguise that comes from the Shadowsilk Gem (If you want to know how to get this costume, we wrote about it here).
It just so happens that this particular costume functions pretty much the same as polymorphs, which are collectibles in ESO that completely morph your character's appearance into something else. This "polymorph" is unique because it also completely changes many of the animations that your character uses, which might explain why it has been so vulnerable to funny bugs in the past.
This article will share some of the funniest goblin related glitches that we've seen.
The Goblin Beauty Pageant
ESO's Collections menu allows you to modify your character's appearance with various hair styles, face markings and make-up, and most of the time these do not work when you're wearing a polymorph because that would result in some very odd stuff. But perhaps due to its unique characterization as a disguise that behaves like a polymorph, the Goblin costume was apparently exempt from this restriction in the past, an oversight from Zenimax that led to some funny results. To the best of my knowledge this was fixed some time ago, but luckily I have a couple of old screenshots still saved from when this bug was in the game.
Goblin Physics Breaking the Universe
This one was both hilarious and maybe a little bit disturbing depending on your disposition. It's a very old bug now, going back to 2017, and it was fixed a long time ago. Sadly the best I have available to show it off is an old video still, but it's still sufficient to show what was happening. When you mounted a guar or a senche with the goblin costume equipped, the animations would not work properly at all.First of all your goblin just awkwardly floated on top of the poor creature, and then to top it off the mount would also skate around without moving its legs. It got even worse if you jumped, this would cause your mount to begin floating around in a perpetual jumping animation, with its legs bent at an odd angle.
It was certainly a funny little party trick for bored players back in the day, but it was fixed years ago.
The longest ears in Tamriel
Full credit for this one goes to Gabrielzavadski on the official ESO Forums who posted this one a couple of days ago. We're not sure how the bug was created or if it was just a one-off fluke, but it goes to show that even today the Goblin costume is still finding new ways to break the game.We hope you enjoyed this article about glitches in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online).
