Three Free Skins in ESO and How to Get Them
By Andrew | 5 Apr 2022 |The Elder Scrolls Online has many skins that you can obtain, however for new players or for people who don’t want to spend extra money on the game, it may look like you don’t have many options, because a lot of these skins can only be obtained from the Crown Store or by completing DLC trials on Veteran difficulty.
If this applies to you, you do still have some options! In this article we will look at three different skins you can get for your ESO character, and where to find them.
How to Get the Skeleton Polymorph in ESO
ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) has quite a few polymorphs, some from the Crown Store, and some from in-game achievements. Polymorphs are basically a collectible that will transform your character into something else, in this case a skeleton.
To find the Skeleton polymorph, you need to go to Stillrise Village, which can be found in North Western Shadowfen. The village is home to what might be the last settlement of the Kothringi, an ancient tribal race native to Black Marsh who were used by the Ayleids as slaves until the Cyrodiilic Uprising in the First Era.
You will need to complete a small storyline in the village, comprised of two quests. Speak with Chieftain Suhlak to begin the first of these quests, The Thin Ones.
The quest is very simple - you will need to defeat three Worm Cult mini bosses who are basically just normal enemies with higher health pools and shouldn’t give you any problems. You then just need to fetch a Soul Gem Array.
After completing the objectives, return to Chieftain Suhlak to finish the quest and start the second one, The Bargain’s End.
In this quest you just have to answer a dilemma, deciding on the fate of the village, and then either preserve or destroy the Soul Gem Array. After completing the objectives, hand in the quest and you will have the Skeleton polymorph added to your collectibles menu. Activating it will turn you into a skeleton, and activating it again will return you to normal.
How to Get the Goblin Polymorph in ESO
There’s a small catch with this item - it isn’t technically a polymorph, it’s a disguise, which means you have to earn it separately on each character and the item can be lost or destroyed if you are not careful with it.
Obtaining it is very easy, you simply have to start the quest called A Goblin’s Affection. The quest giver is Valdam Andoren who can be found next to Ashen Road Wayshrine in Stonefalls.
He will immediately give you the Shadowsilk Gem as a disguise to help you sneak past the Goblins and complete the quest. Equipping the gem will turn you into a goblin, and unequipping it will return you to normal.
You don’t even have to finish the quest, but if you do so then be wary that it’s possible to lose the disguise if you enter combat with the local Goblins or get caught by their pet spiders while wearing the costume. If this happens you can return to Valdam Andoren to get another gem as long as you did not already finish the quest.
You can keep the disguise in your inventory after finishing the quest, and use it to play as a goblin whenever you feel like it.
How to Get the Kollopi Essence in ESO
The Kollopi Essence is another quest-related disguise, meaning it behaves in the same way as the Shadowsilk Gem and can be lost or destroyed. Equipping it will cause your character to become transparent and surrounded by a swarm of bugs. Using it in a dungeon might annoy healers though, as it does make it quite hard to see you, so beware of that.
To get the Kollopi Essence, head to Bramblebreach, a Bosmer village in Greenshade, just south of Marbruk. Once there, speak to a Khajiit called Hazazi, who will give you a quest called Frighten the Fearsome.
Go to talk to Treethane Niriel, and she will then send you to find the Shimmering Tree. When you find it you will be approached by two High Elves. After speaking with them, you can approach the tree to get the Kollopi Essence.
You do not have to complete the quest past this point if you just wanted the disguise, but if you do decide to finish the quest and manage to lose the Kollopi Essence, then just return to the tree before completing the quest to get more. To avoid losing it you can also just do the quest without using the disguise, you will just have to fight more orcs.
