ESO Bag and Bank Upgrade Cost Reductions in Update 49
The total cost of fully upgrading both your bag and bank space in ESO drops by ~50%, from 948,200 gold to 500,000 gold.
New Total Upgrade Costs (Previous Costs):
- Full bag upgrade: 100,000 gold (was 179,700)
- Full bank upgrade: 400,000 gold (was 768,500)
- Total combined cost: 500,000 gold (was 948,200)
According to the developers, these adjustments lower the barrier for newer players, reduce early-game frustration caused by limited inventory and encourage engagement with crafting, looting and exploration.
Crown Store pricing for bag and bank upgrades has also been reduced to stay aligned with the new gold costs.

New Inventory Bag Upgrade Button
ESO Update 49 adds a new "Upgrade Bag Space" button at the bottom of the inventory screen. You no longer need to travel to a Pack Merchant to buy bag upgrades!
The change addresses several pain points:
- New player awareness: Many players did not realize bag upgrades existed
- Interrupted upgrades: Players ran out of gold mid-upgrade and forgot to return
- Unnecessary travel: Visiting pack merchants interrupted gameplay flow
