The ESO Update 45 Livestream surprised everyone by revealing that addons are coming to Consoles in the future! We also learned that there will be a test on live servers with a "simplified" Cyrodiil for one week in addition to two houses and many base game improvements that are coming with the Fallen Banners Dungeon DLC in March of 2025.
In this article we will go over everything we learned from the U45 ESO Live on January 9th including all the new item sets you can obtain. Patch notes and more detailed information will be available on Monday January 13th when the U45 is released on the Public Test Server (PTS).

Update 45 Fallen Banners DLC launches on March 10th on PC and March 25th on Consoles.
Cyrodiil Champions - a simplified Cyrodiil test in March 2025
ZOS will introduce a campaign called "Vengeance" on the PTS on its second week of testing where players will only have a set of simplified skills, gear and infinite potions but no passives. To be absolutely clear, the test on the PTS is a functionality test to see if the campaign works as intended. The real performance test will happen on Live Megaservers sometime towards the end of March where the intent is to gather as much data as possible on the complexity of abilities.
During the live server testing, all other campaigns will be disabled and only the Vengeance testing campaign will be available. The test will last for one week and there will be XP and AP bonuses to incentivize players to hop in.
List of changes in the Vengeance Campaign test
- All players have the same set of skills and attributes meaning the outcome of the fights are based on individual player skills.
- Simplified class skills (less taxing for the server)
- No passives
- Stats are normalized
- Gear that is given for your character (it stays in the Vengeance Campaign)
- Your normal gear won't work in the campaign
- Infinite potions, sieges etc.
- Sky dome will have a red tint
- You might need to target allies with your healing skills and there might not be any lingering heals on the ground.

ESO Update 45 Base Game Features
In addition to the two new dungeons, we will see some nice additions base game features and quality of life changes.
Add-on Flow Management for Console addons (coming soon)
- The PTS will have pre-emptive measures added for addon developers to test creating console addons. Addon developers will get more details and all changes to the Console Addon API next week.
- Note that it was not mentioned that addons will be available on consoles at the launch of Update 45.
Disguises will be converted to collectibles.
Base Mount Speed will be improved.
Base mount speed is increased significantly, but the top speed will remain almost the same.
9 of the slottable stars in the Green Champion Tree will be converted to passives. The following stars will no longer need to be slotted:
Tamriel Map Improvements
- Custom Waypoint Icon Color Selector. You can select the color for the blue diamond marker.
- Wayshrine Clutter has been reduced. The big ESO Tamriel Map only shows the wayshrine closest to the zone quest or the nearest city or quest hub. Individual Zone maps will look the same.
Visual Improvements to starter zones
- Lighting changes and swapping low poly assets for higher quality assets.
- Blending of the terrain
- Organic clutter added across the zones
- Improved atmospheric effects
- Old water textures are replaced with new water textures from newer zones.
- Visual improvements will be more noticeable in some places, depending on what changes were made.
Weather Control and Two New Houses
In case you missed it, when Mike Finnigan ported into the houses on stream, there was a new category called "Supports Weather Control". Housing enthusiasts have been asking for Weather Control for a long time and it looks like we might get it with Update 45! Keep in mind that the information is from an internal server and we will have to wait until Mondays PTS patch notes to confirm if Weather Control is being added to ESO in U45.
Castle Skingrad house
Count Calantius cordially invites a caretaker to maintain and decorate Castle Skingrad as he rides out to support his loyal citizens. This majestic castle stands just outside Skingrad, granting easy access to the city's amenities and nearby vineyards.
Shattered Mirror Isle house
Scintillating island and skeletons of long-forgotten beasts float amid Mirrormoor's luminous skies. Enterprising architects, step through a shattered mirror portal in Fargrave and finesse this osseous mass into a dazzling dimensional home.
Fallen Banners Dungeon DLC: Exiled Redoubt and Lep Seclusa
These two dungeons are meant to be standalone experiences that touch on the 10th anniversary instead of being part of any overarching story. The three banners war has been going on for a decade and we now see what it would mean for the rest of Tamriel.
Both dungeons have individual hard modes on the main bosses.
Update 45 Fallen Banners DLC launches on March 10th on PC and March 25th on Consoles. Note that you will need an active ESO Plus Membership to access the Dungeon DLC and most likely can not purchase it separately.

Tells a story of an Imperial family that wanted to bring an end to the war, but went all scorched earth after their son was killed. You must stop the Imperial Family.

Former battlefield Emperor Orpheon The tactician became disillusioned with the three banners war and gathered an army of deserters. They have found an Elder Scrolls and want to bring about destruction with it. You must stop them.

Dust of Conqueror's Flame memento is awarded to you for beating Orphean the Tactician in the Lep Seclusa Dungeon.
Haunted Mirror of Introspection memento is awarded to you when you complete Exile's Redoubt Dungeon on Veteran Mode.
