What is Tales of Tribute in the Elder Scrolls Online High Isle, and how to get started with it.

When High Isle was announced earlier in the year, many players were surprised to hear about the inclusion of a new card game. This card game, known as Tales of Tribute, seemed to be a bit divisive in the ESO Community when it was revealed, leaving Zenimax with a few doubters to win over.
Now that High Isle has released, players can finally try out the card game for themselves. This article will give you a basic introduction to the card game and where you need to go to get started with it.
How to Get Started with Tales of Tribute in ESO
Anyone who owns the High Isle Chapter can start playing Tales of Tribute. In order to get started, you will need to head to Gonfalon Bay, the main city located in the South East of the High Isle and Amenos zone. When you are in the city, head towards the big statue in the sea, cross the bridge, and you will reach Gonfalon Gaming Hall. There will be a talkative Bosmer NPC called Bragas stood outside the Gaming Hall. You can speak with him to get started with Tales of Tribute. He will give you a quest, during which you will need to do a tutorial game that explains the basic mechanics of the game, get introduced to the most important NPCs in the Gonfalon Gaming Hall, and play a practice match against a Novice NPC player. After winning the practice match, you will be able to return to Bragas to complete the quest, and you will then be able to do Tales of Tribute daily quests, and Play Tales of Tribute against other players or valid NPCs.

Where Can I Play Tales of Tribute in ESO
Once you have unlocked Tales of Tribute, there are several different ways to play it.You can play it against NPCs who have the Tribute Player tag on their nameplate. This tag will also have a difficulty rating on it, for example "Novice Tribute Player". Advanced NPCs may refuse to play against you if you have a low rank compared to them. Such NPCs are found upstairs in Gonfalon Gaming Hall, as well as in taverns and inns around Tamriel.
You can also play the game against other players in friendly matches, unranked matches and ranked matches.
Friendly matches can be initiated via the social hotwheel against any player who also owns the High Isle DLC and has also completed the Tales of Tribute introductory quest described above. You will not receive any rewards for these kinds of matches.
Unranked matches are played against random players by using the Activity Finder. You get rewards for participating in these matches, and winning will earn better rewards than losing. You can get some rare crafting materials from these reward coffers so it's worth doing them from time to time.
Finally, ranked matches are also initiated via the activity finder but have the added effect of increasing your decreasing your rank. After you advance through all of the ranking tiers, you can get onto the leaderboard. Players get additional ranks at the end of each ranked season, and placing high on the leaderboard will earn even more rewards. You will also get the same standard rewards from each game just like with unranked games or games against NPCs.

How to Play Tales of Tribute in ESO
At a basic level, the objective of Tales of Tribute is to amass more Prestige than your opponent. You will use coins in the game to buy cards. Cards can give you either more coins or increase your power level for the turn. At the end of each turn, any unspent coins are discarded, and any unspent power is added to your Prestige tally. The first player to 40 prestige generally wins the game, unless the other player can beat their score within one turn, which will cause the game to enter a kind of sudden death mode. There's quite a lot of information behind Tales of Tribute, and for a more detailed explanation of what everything means, I recommend checking out our Tales of Tribute Guide.
