The look and feel of ESO-Hub has changed today, as we have performed a long overdue upgrade of our styling framework.
ESO-Hub's development started around 2019. I was the sole developer of the website. I would consider myself to be a backend developer, and my front-end and design skills leave much to be desired. Luckily, those times are behind us, and I have now got someone who is much better at designing web interfaces than I am.
The backend technology ESO-Hub runs on is modern, and has always been up-to-date with the latest standards and releases. The front-end, however, was mostly neglected. This was mainly because of my lack of knowledge in the field. Back in the day, I built ESO-Hub's front-end on a framework called Bootstrap 4. Official support for this framework ended in January of 2023. So we finally decided to upgrade ESO-Hub to the most modern framework available, Tailwind 4.
Over the years ESO-Hub has gained many, many new pages and features. The project is huge, and upgrading its styling framework is no small task. Every single aspect of the site had to be re-made, redesigned and re-tested. But, it is finally done. Every page has been transitioned to the new framework and we are happy with the result.
Now that we have transitioned to a modern framework, we can begin improving the UX of the website. Tailwind 4 comes with a lot of features, and we intend to use them to our advantage. So over the coming months you will see ESO-Hub change, page by page, hopefully for the better.
Our main goal is to make it easier for you, the user, to find things. Our menu needs redesigning, it sucks, and we know it does. We want to have the most relevant content on our pages to be at the top, for instance our Sets page has now gotten a make-over. The most important part, the search, is at the top and immediately visible and usable on both mobile and desktop. We intend to do such redesigns for all our pages.
Thanks for sticking with us for all these years, and we hope the redesign will make ESO-Hub an even better resource for the Elder Scrolls Online. If you run into any bugs, please report them in our Discord server.
