Wasps in ESO Have a Secret Easter Egg

There are countless types of enemies in the dungeons and delves of ESO (Elder Scrolls Online), but some of them do have quirky hidden behaviors that you might normally never encounter. One such case that I had forgotten about until recently was the method in which you can get a wasp to fight for you.
How to Get a Wasp Pet in ESO
There's a caveat here - the wasp pet is not added to your collectibles and is not permanent, and he (or she, who knows) will not follow you too far away from the place where you obtained it. But it's still a nice little easter egg that is very easy to miss, so I thought it worth a mention.There are actually male and female wasps in ESO - you can tell them apart by their color. The male ones are dark blue, and the females have more of a golden color. Not all wasp populations in the game have the golden female wasps, for example I couldn't find any of them in Betnikh.
The combat abilities of the two wasp genders are a little different. Most of their attacks are identical, but it is the charged heavy attack that's the key here. When a wasp does a heavy attack it will sting you if you don't bash it in time.
If there are still enemy wasps attacking you when the egg hatches after about 10 seconds, then a young wasp will emerge from the egg and also start attacking you.
However if the wasps are dead when the egg hatches, then the young wasp will instead think you are its parent and will follow you around and help you in combat. It does not do much damage and only has a couple of thousand health, so can die very easily.
The wasp pet will go away after a few minutes, or if you travel to a different zone to where you picked it up from.
But I suppose it's also possible that this is a relic of an old prototype or proof of concept that was implemented into the game during development and just left in. Maybe at one point there were plans to have a range of different combat pets that you could find in the world to aid you in your adventures, instead of only non-combat pets and a few summoned pets like Summon Volatile Familiar from class abilities, and from item sets like Maw of the Infernal. Who knows, maybe this will happen in a future update - I can say that I was a little sad the first time I got a wasp pet and then later noticed that it had despawned.
If you just want to try this out for yourself, then a good place to find female wasps is the Entila's Folly delve in Auridon. The cave is mostly poulated by spiders, but at the bottom of the delve there is a large room filled with wasps.
