In an unexpected and truly shocking twist, ZeniMax Online Studios has announced that the highly popular Oakensoul Ring will be permanently removed from The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), effective next update. The announcement, which dropped just hours ago on the official forums and social media accounts, sent shockwaves through the ESO community.

The removal of the ring has been explained by ZeniMax as a "return to the core experience," in which players will be forced to manually swap out gear and adjust their skills more frequently, allowing them to "feel the weight of every decision" in their builds.

The update will also see all current Oakensoul Rings automatically converted into fishing bait with no resale value, effectively forcing players to adapt.

The infamous ZOS_Woeler was quoted saying that "those who can't do combat, can now go fishing with their extra bait".

Speaking about bait: If you would like more information about the removal of the Oakensoul Ring from the game, we recommend that you look at the publishing date of this article (April 1st).
