Medium Attacks Will Be Nerfed for ESO Lost Depths

It turns out that Medium Attacks are not going to be the new meta in ESO Lost Depths after all.

Last week on ESO-Hub, we wrote that Medium Attack weaving looked likely to become the most optimal playstyle for PvE DPS once the Lost Depths update went live. 

This looked to be the case at the time, as the changes to the Empower buff that we knew about on the Public Test Server looked set to make Medium Attacks very powerful. 

However, new information has recently come to light.

Another Change to ESO's Empower Buff

ESO content creator Skinny Cheeks asked the Zenimax team in a Discord server for some clarification on what exactly the situation regarding Medium Attacks would be. 

Rich Lambert (ESO Creative Director) replied to this, stating that the live version of Lost Depths will have a fix for the Empower buff, causing it to only affect fully-charged heavy attacks, rather than both fully charged and partially charged attacks (medium attacks). This response was originally circulated in some endgame Discord servers, before later being posted on the Official ESO Forums.

This does resolve what was a glaring contradiction compared to the stated aims of the Lost Depths update - if Medium Attacks had been allowed to become the meta then it would have pretty much ruined Zenimax's attempts to close the skill gap between more and less experienced players, as Medium Attack weaving is the most difficult type of weaving to pull of, by some margin. 

For most players this is probably good news, but naturally there would have been some players that were looking forward to a Medium Attack meta. Such a meta simply doesn't match Zenimax's goals at the moment though, it seems.
