This New ESO Mythic Will Make Dodge Spamming Even More Annoying

If you have spent any time playing PvP in the Elder Scrolls Online, then you have probably encountered some opposing players who are able to avoid huge amounts of damage by spamming dodge roll. This is so powerful because you can substantially decrease the cost of dodge rolling by making use of the Athletics passive while wearing Medium Armor, and the vast majority of highly damaging skills in the game are single-target abilities which, unlike AOEs, can be easily dodge rolled.

One thing that currently can bypass dodge rolls is AOE damage, but it seems like even that might be changing soon...

With the Chapter, a new Mythic item will be coming to the game which changes how dodge rolls work. If you are wearing the new , instead of giving you an immunity to damage, dodge rolls will now give you a pretty huge 20,000 point damage shield which lasts for 1 second. Unlike pretty much every other damage shield in the game, this one will NOT be halved by the Battle Spirit effect which applies to PvP situations.

The Lefthander's Aegis Belt will be a new Mythic item in High IsleWhat this essentially means is that dodge rolls will cause you to be immune to all damage (except for Oblivion damage, but this is currently not seen in large enough amounts to be relevant). It's especially strong for stamina Nightblades, many of whom already often adopt a playstyle of weaving high damage single-target abilities with dodge rolls, and then turning invisible at the first sign of danger or when they are nearly out of resources.

This is something that is just difficult to counter due to the way the game's combat is designed, and this Mythic item might be about to make that even more of an issue. You will basically be immortal as long as you have enough stamina to keep dodging with, unless you're managing to take 20,000 damage per second from AOEs.

How can you counter dodge spamming in ESO PvP?

Since this tactic is primarily employed by Stamina Nightblades, we're best off considering how to counter them specifically.

They generally operate by spamming dodges until they start to lose the upper hand, then going invisible to heal up and recover some resources before attacking you again.

You can make detection potions to help you deal with stealthy characters in ESO PvPSo what can you do about this? The simplest solution is to brew some detect potions and keep them slotted on your Quick Access. You can brew a potion with , and which will detect stealthed enemies around you, and also make you immune to stuns, which is a great counter to these kinds of builds.
