What is a Motif in ESO?
Crafting Motifs are books that unlock the ability to craft an item in a certain style through blacksmithing, clothing, or woodworking. Reading a motif also unlocks the related style for use with the Outfit System where you can use these on your armor without having to craft it in that style.
How do you get motifs in ESO?
Motif chapters can be obtained in many different ways in ESO, including completing dungeons, searching chests, and finding them throughout the game world. Since there are so many different motif styles, some of them are more worthwhile to obtain than others because of their unique appearances.
Can you buy motifs in ESO?
You can buy crafting motifs either in Guild Stores or in the Crown Store, and some Outfit styles can usually be purchased from specific NPCs, such as the festival merchant or the Undaunted merchant.
Are motifs account wide in ESO?
In update 17, motifs essentially became account-wide appearance options within the Outfit System. Since no classes are locked into a specific armor type, players are able to use light, medium, and heavy appearances on all armor, as well as different weapon styles on specific weapons.
How do you learn different styles in ESO?
By default, each character knows how to craft equipment of its own racial motif. In order to learn other styles, players will have to loot style books to broaden their characters' skills. Players can also purchase style books at the Crown Store or in-game through Guild stores.

Whichever is your crafting character, make sure this is the character that you level up Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking on. Reason for this is the style motifs are shared among all crafting areas, but not among all characters. So only the character learning the style can also craft a new item in that learned style.
Are outfits account wide in ESO?
Outfits are account wide in ESO! It doesn't matter which character you learn an Outfit on or acquire it on, it is shared account wide and can be used from any character. Dye can be applied to costumes and hats with ESO Plus or Dye Stamps.
Are Style pages account bound in ESO?
Yes, outfit styles are account wide, including those learned from motifs. The only exception is crafting a new item in a specific style. Only the character that learned that style can craft a new item in that style.
Are Collections account wide in ESO?
All items in Collections, banked gold, banked TelVar stones, are all account-wide, as are homes. Bound arms and armor can also be shared account wide - it doesn't matter whether it was bound from a drop, or simply that one character wore/used the item; it can still be shared.
