What Changes Were Made on the ESO Lost Depths PTS This Week?
Por Andrew | 26 jul. 2022 |Last week some planned changes to the Lost Depths PTS were hinted at by developers of the Elder Scrolls Online. We were told that we could expect a change in course for ground based DoTs and HoTs, which had originally been nerfed severely on the PTS. However no changes to sticky DoTs and HoTs were mentioned, nor was any changes to light and heavy attacks, leaving many of the controversial changes untouched.
The latest PTS patch notes were released yesterday. Let's take a look at what changed, and if there was anything unexpected.
What is New on the Lost Depths PTS?
As one would expect, there has been little deviation from the plan outlined last week in the preview that was posted by ESO's combat team.Ground based Damage over time and healing over time skills have been returned to their original durations from before the Lost Depths PTS and they once again tick every second as opposed to every two seconds, however their damage output remains somewhat reduced to where they are on the live server. This change of direction was made in response to complaints about how the identity of the skills was lost and how they were basically a poor choice in most higher level gameplay due to the tendency of enemies to move around.
Grand Healing and its morphs are once again ticking every second rather than every two seconds, which should help healers to cope with healing demands in the game's hardest boss fights where damage dealt to group members is very high, for example Falgravn Hardmode in Kyne's Aegis.
Apart from some fairly minor changes to skills such as Bound Armaments and Crystal Weapon, that's really all that has changed, so it is increasingly looking like the majority of the combat changes planned for Lost Depths are indeed going ahead, in spite of the backlash from many players seen on the Official ESO Forums and some other platforms. You can read the full patch notes for this iteration of the PTS here.
There is still time for more changes to happen though. Traditionally week three (which we are now in) of the PTS is the one where the most major changes will happen, although it's not unheard of for big changes to happen after that point.
