The Feature of ESO's Towns that is Confusing New Players
A recent thread on the ESO subreddit revealed a particularly funny thing that is probably quite confusing for many new players in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online).

The creator of the thread was remarking on how many dead NPCs tend to litter the towns in ESO, mentioning in particular that there is often a dead Khajiit in Elden Root, the main hub city in Grahtwood.

Why are ESO’s towns full of corpses?

The “problem”, if you see it that way, is that there are a lot of players that go around murdering NPCs for their loot, to complete an assassination mission with the Blade of Woe skill or simply for the hell of it. Sometimes the game does not despawn these corpses for quite a long time, so they are left lying around.

There is also a very bizarre thing that can often happen where an NPC respawns before their corpse has disappeared, so can then be seen casually standing over a dead clone of themselves.

I find this both hilarious and disturbing - it wouldn’t surprise me if seeing a dead version of yourself is a particularly nasty nightmare that some people have had.

A similar thing can also happen to a boss that is being farmed a lot, especially during events. The boss will keep getting killed pretty much as soon as it respawns, and it can get to the point where it is respawning on top of several dead copies of itself.

This is probably just a funny little quirk of the game that will always be there.
