Five Rare Lighting Furnishings in Elder Scrolls Online Housing
The Elder Scrolls Online has a huge amount of furnishing items that players can obtain to put in their homes. As part of a new series in ESO Hub, today we will look at five interesting and thematic lighting and visual effects items that you may have overlooked, how you can utilize them in your home and where you can obtain them from.

We will not cover any Crown Store exclusive items in this article or any subsequent articles in this series.

Azure Plasm Cage in ESO

The first item on our list today is the Azure Plasm Cage, Hanging.

This is a cage containing a large, bright blue light which emits ripple effects on its surroundings, which effectively models the reflective effect that you get if you shine light on the surface of water.

There is a hidden trick you can do with this item - concealing it behind a wall, ceiling, floor or other large object will still allow some of the light to be cast into the room, and you will still get the ripple effect.

This makes the item perfect for creating an aquatic ambiance in your environment.

One other thing to note is that this item is categorized as a special furnishing, which means it doesn’t take up normal furnishing slots, making it great for adding to the theme and lighting of your house without compromising its contents if you are short on space.

This item is obtained for 100,000 gold from Zanil Theran, the Luxury Furnisher vendor in Coldharbour. He only appears at the weekends and sells different items each week. You can check what is in stock this week on our Luxury Vendor page.

Totem of the Sixth House in ESO

Totem of the Sixth House can be more readily obtained than the Azure Plasm Cage, and it also offers us interesting options for lighting and visual effects.

The totem projects a red Daedric summoning circle on the ground around it.

If you just want the summoning circle without the totem then you can flip the totem upside down and place it inside the floor. Then you will just see the circle projected on the ground.

Totem of the Sixth House costs 100,000 gold and can be bought from the Vvardenfell achievement furnisher, provided you have completed the Forgotten Wastes Vanquisher achievement.

Benign Hemo Helot in ESO

It’s easy to overlook the Hemo Helot, Benign because the in-game preview does not show the full effect that the item has on its surroundings.

When you place it in your house it will project a red pattern on the ground beneath it and also emits a red light.

You can activate the orb to turn it on and off. When turned off it projects a brighter version of the pattern but will stop emitting red light.

You can buy this one from the Undaunted Quartermaster for 50,000 gold, provided you have completed the Moongrave Fane Vanquisher achievement.

Ritual Hagraven Cauldron in ESO

Hagraven Cauldron, Ritual can get overlooked because at first glance it looks identical to Wood Elf Cauldron, Stone, a craftable housing item that doesn’t do anything too special.

However, when placed in your house and activated, the difference between the two becomes apparent. The Hagraven Cauldron emits a bright green fire when activated, projecting an impressive green light onto the surrounding area.

This makes the item great for some thematic houses, such as haunted houses, and it can probably be co-opted for less sinister themes, for example a garden with a Wild Hunt theme. I’m sure that imaginative housing aficionados can think of plenty more uses for it too.

If you want this in your house, you simply need to obtain the recipe and craft it. The recipe is currently selling for low prices on both EU and NA servers so you might want to just get it that way. Check Tamriel Trade Center to find where the item is currently being sold, and to find a good deal.

Replica Cursed Orb of Meridia in ESO

Our last item today is the Replica Cursed Orb of Meridia. At first glance in the preview it looks uninspiring, however when placed in your house you can activate it to cycle through various colored flames.

This makes the item very flexible - it can be put on a different setting to project different types of light to suit different themes or moods. It can project blue, purple, red, yellow and white light colors.

And just like the Azure Plasm Cage, Hanging, it is classed as a special furnishing which makes it ideal if you are running low on space, as not many items in the game fall under this category.

You can buy this item from the Undaunted Quartermaster for 100,000 gold, you just need to do the Depths of Malatar Vanquisher achievement first.
