- Build updated for Fallen Banners / U45! -
Quick Note
I included a new Setup, “Primal Slayer [WIP]”, which is a work in progress as this site hasn't have the multiclassing feature ready yet for me to set up the skills. I'll keep it updated as time goes by, and I'll try to keep testing the build until U46 launches.
Now, with that out of the way…
Welcome!
Welcome to @KaiRosenthal's RP/Solo Stamina Dragonknight Build!
This is my attempt on making a solo build using the weapons and skills that I like but also make sense for my character, all the while also be able to survive on his own. Personally, I prefer to implement both the dragon and knight aspect of Dragonknight to my character, even though he's actually more of a brute than a knight.
With that being said, I hereby present to you, the guide for my build!
Gears
Why 0/7/0 instead of 1/5/1 or 1/6/0?
We want as much damage as possible, and medium armor's passives accommodates that. While some magicka cost reduction and armor from both light and heavy armor is fine, I don't think it's significant enough for us to get, and it helps us save some skill points too by not upgrading the passives.
Why Pillar of Nirn and Briarheart?
We will be using Briarheart up until the fourth bonus, as we'll get a better effect that can replace the fifth damage bonus and perform better; more on that below. This set gives us increased critical chance and maximum stamina, increasing our damage.
Pillar of Nirn is simply just an awesome set to have anywhere, as it gives yet another source of AoE damage in the form of creating fissures. On the RP side, I like to think that the fissures from Pillar of Nirn is just another way of him attacking the enemy while also complementing the skills from the Earthen Heart tree.
However, if you want to use other sets, Order's Wrath and Hunding's Rage can replace one of or both of the gears above as they are nice sets that you can never go wrong with. Order's Wrath is a Craftable set from the High Isle chapter, and Hunding's Rage can be crafted from base game stations.
For the back bar bow, you can absolutely go with Thunderous Volley or Perfected Thunderous Volley. I personally haven't got them unlocked so just Briarheart will do for me.
Why Stormfist?
Another cool damaging set that also creates a… well, storm fist. While it's a bit odd for a (mainly) fire-and-earth-themed character to have a lightning-based 'attack', I'd like to focus on its fist aspect, which deals physical damage.
Some alternatives that you can try as well are Slimecraw for more critical chance and Minor Berserk buff, Bloodspawn for more ultimate generation, or Iceheart for (ice) shield (which contradicts the fire aspect but hey it's a nice defensive set).
We are using Ring of the Pale Order to make up for the lost fifth bonus from the Briarheart set. I personally do not prefer to swap one of the monster piece with a Briarheart just to keep the 5th piece bonus as your passive heal will now just becoming overkill. However, you can (and should) keep one in your inventory if you plan on doing group content so the healer(s) can heal you. Alternatively, you can use literally any other mythic ring except for Oakensoul Ring.
Skills
Just a quick reminder, I made this build because I want to use the skills that I like as my priority, while also keeping me alive and able to solo tough enemies. Here are my skill selections:
Front Bar
- Stampede: Nice upfront damage, leaving AoE DoT on impact. I love the mobility this skill provides and it'll never leave my any of my stamina characters.
- Stone Giant: The spammable skill. Once activated, you can hurl up to 3 molten balls in a 10 seconds time frame. You have to press the button again.
- Flames of Oblivion: A multi-targeting attacking orb-thingy.
- Barbed Trap: Bar buffer, DoT, and also gives Minor Force, increasing critical damage by 10%.
- Ring of Preservation: Bar buffer, HoT, while reducing our damage taken and increasing stamina regeneration via Minor Protection and Minor Endurance, as long as we're inside the ring.
- Flawless Dawnbreaker: A bar buffer that we can use on enemies. Restores resources via our Battle Roar passive.
Back Bar
- Endless Hail: AoE DoT bow skill.
- Eruption: DoT that reduces enemies' movement speed. Good for our sustain as it consumes magicka instead of stamina.
- Noxious Breath: DoT and Major Breach.
- Burning Embers: DoT but also HoT that uses magicka, which, again, is good for our sustain.
- Igneous Weapons: A buff for us to increase our weapon and spell damage via Major Brutality and Major Sorcery. We use this morph because the other requires constant application, which drains our already small pool of magicka.
- Standard of Might: An ultimate that buffs you by increasing damage dealt and debuffs enemies by increasing their damage taken. Restores resources via our Battle Roar passive.

Rotation
I will assume that you can and will do light attack weaving, so that I don't have to write it down below.
Since the build is mostly DoTs, we want to basically apply all of our DoT attacks and then spam Stone Giant. Don't forget to reapply DoTs as they run out!
- Start with your back bar: Igneous Weapons > Endless Hail > Eruption > Noxious Breath > Burning Embers
- Swap to front bar: Stampede > Barbed Trap > Flames of Oblivion > Ring of Preservation > Stone Giant
- You can now spam Stone Giant, but remember, you need to refresh all of the DoTs above.
- Use your ultimate skills to both damage and sustain your resources! I recommend to stick with Flawless Dawnbreaker, although Standard of Might is generally better.
- Rinse and repeat!
Additional Information
You've made it this far, congratulations! Here are some more reading for you, for more bits of extra knowledge:
- Most of the time, I only use Orzorga's Triple Trifle Pocket and the normal Essence of Stamina from enemy drops. If you are doing harder contents, please refer to the Consumables section where you can pick and choose which one you need more!
- We use the Lover mundus for all solo content to increase our penetration. If you plan on doing group content, you can use the Thief mundus instead.
- As stated above, due to how the Battle Roar passive functions and how we are so resource-hungry, I encourage you to actually use Flawless Dawnbreaker most of the time, because it ensures you always have resources. Couple this with the potions and you're good to go.
- If you ask “Why not all of Draconic Power passives are upgraded?”, it's because the Draconic Power passives that I did not upgrade requires you to have any of said abilities slotted and active, and we don't have any of that.
And we're done!
Thank you!
I hope you'll enjoy the build as much as I do. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to let me know at @KaiRosenthal in-game.
See you around, and happy adventuring!
