How Good Are the New Overland Sets in ESO Firesong?

The upcoming Firesong DLC for the Elder Scrolls Online adds three new overland sets to the game. These will be obtainable by defeating bosses and world events, and opening treasure chests, in the new Galen and Y'ffelon zone. Today we will take a look at these new sets. Keep in mind that they are currently on the PTS, and they could change before the DLC goes live on November 1st.
Back-Alley Gourmand Set
The first new overland set in Firesong is Back-Alley Gourmand. This is a Light Armor set, and passively gives you extra critical chance, weapon and spell damage, and will also give you 13% extra critical damage and healing if you have a food buff active (which is probably all the time).This is a nice and easy to use set that you can use to boost DPS. It's not really an "endgame" set, as optimised groups tend to already have the maximum possible critical damage modifier, but for everyone else this set can be quite useful. You don't have to do anything to keep the buff up besides refresh your food buff, so if you're playing DPS at a fairly casual level then this is definitely a set that could help you out.
Phoenix Moth Theurge
At first glance, I found Phoenix Moth Theurge pretty confusing. It looks like a support set, as it will give Minor Force and Minor Courage to yourself or allies when you heal them. But its 2, 3 and 4 piece bonuses of 2x stamina recovery and maximum stamina do not really fit in well at all with any support roles (except stamina healers, which is not a very common playstyle at all, due in part to the lack of impactful healing and buffing abilities that cost stamina).However, you could actually make this set work for solo play. You can wear this in combination with something that is healing you regularly, a skill like Critical Surge or the Ring of the Pale Order would both work nicely. That way, you get a extra buff from Minor Courage, which normally comes from a tank wearing the Claw of Yolnahkriin set, as well as easily having high Minor Force uptime without needing to worry about manually keeping that buff up by recasting a skill like Barbed Trap.
Bastion of the Draoife set
The final new overland set in Firesong is the Bastion of the Draoife set. It is a Heavy Armor set. The 2, 3 and 4 piece bonuses here give you about 1k extra maximum health, and 2k extra stamina. Wearing all five pieces adds a new stacking mechanic to your character. When you block an attack, you will get a stack of Inflection for 10 seconds. You can have up to three stacks, and each stack will give you 106 extra magicka and stamina recovery.
