Scarlet Mira's magicka sorcerer for both solo and group PvE & PvP.

Most of you have already seen this in action. Some of you have even tried it yourselves. But to those that haven't, this is a MUST for every player to have in their character arsenal, and I promise you it is worth it!

Not only is this a hard-hitting tanky war machine, it is also super easy to play as most of the stats are flat, no procs, only stacks are with heavy attacking - AND it's super fun and satisfying to use in every scenario you can think of.

In this guide, I am gonna go over some in-depth things involving:

  1. rotation in different scenarios
  2. what to use for PvE and for PvP (no major changes)
  3. What can you actually use this for?
  4. Races, foods, passives, all the little hidden nooks and crannies.

So without further ado, let's die right into it!

  • First and foremost, in this guide it has been stated that you will be taking the vampire curse. This is ONLY if you plan on using it for PvP. If not, then leave it alone as it will only give you debuffs. Sure, the stage 3 dmg reduction can come in a clutch if you're left soloing the last boss on a hard mode DLC dungeon, but it is NOT required and can be played in ALL PvE scenarios without vampire curse.

Race, mundus, food and potions explained:

For race, the absolute ideal race is High Elf as it gives you spell recharge which gives you back 625 magicka every 6 seconds when casting an ability, which makes sustain a lot easier. Syrabane’s Boon which gives you 2000 more max magicka pool flat out to play around with, and Elemental Talent which grants you 258 weapon and spell damage which flat out increases your overall damage.

However, if you choose to go the vampire way, Dark Elf is the way to go as it grants you flame resistance up to 4620, which combats the vampire curse's weakness to fire. Same as High Elves, Dark Elves get 1910 max magicka, BUT also gives you 1910 max stamina, which can make defensive maneuvers easier as you have more stamine to block, dodge and sprint with. And same as the high elf, they also get 258 weapon and spell damage flat out. Some could then argue that even without vampire curse, the Dark Elves would be better, but here it's purely up to personal preference. In terms of stats, the High Elf is the way to go unless you are a vampire.

Alternatively, if you find yourself struggling with sustain (which you most likely will not as this is essentially a heavy attack build), you can also choose to go with Breton, purely for the magicka ability cost reduction of 7%. They do also take a more defensive approach with Spell Attunement, gaining 2310 Spell resistance and 130 magicka Recovery and just like the high elves, 2000 max magicka with the Gift of Magnus passive.

So, with that out of the way, we're gonna go with the Thief mundus as it grants you 1212 wpn & spell critical rating, meaning that our hits are more likely to become critical hits, which, with this build, is a huuuuuuuge game changer, upping the chance of normal 40k heavy attacks to strike up to 110k dmg PER HIT! That is insane for a build that is as tanky as this is! However, what's even better is we're gonna up the crit rating even further by havinf Divines trait on all of our armor, increasing the rating up to a staggering 1982! ;O Holy macaroni!

Food and drink… Nothing special about this, the ideal food is Clockwork citrus, but it's expensive so either go with Bewitched sugar skulls or Withcmother's potent brew as it gives flat out max magicka and health - the health is a super important part of this build too, keep that in mind. This is a tanky dps build after all ;)
- and for drink, we just go with tri-stat health potions because why not. We get all the buffs and jazz from the Oakensoul ring as a passive, and it Minor and Major buffs don't stack with each other, so just be a normie and use tri stat potions (the crown ones work equally as great). Pop these only when your resources are low - it's that simple. Use judgement as to when you want to pop it, but I'd say save it for health only to quickly be able to counter in both PvE and PvP scenarios.

Furthermore, not gonna go into detail about all the buffs the Oakensoul ring gives, as it would be too exhaustive of a guide than it already is (sorry). Basically it gives all the good minor and major buffies :3

Rotation and skills explained:

It is a super simple rotation and it is really really lazy. I'm still convinced it is the highest damage output you can ever get while being as lazy as you are with this build.

HA > Crushing Shock (but using frag instead when it's purple - never ever touch frag otherwise) > repeat. - This is the standard lazy rotation. We are of course Heavy Attack weaving to optimize dmg output in a quick succession. You might need to practice this before it's there, in this case, I recommend looking up a weaving guide if need help in that department!

In scenarios where you are taking more dmg than you're comfortable with and you don't know when you'll be taking the next hard blow, use warp instead of shock, or heal using the twilight matriarch (keep in mind that in a group setting, the matriarch also heals teammates with a powerful quick burst heal - best in dungeons, less so in trials).

Other than that, keep the uptime of curse on at all times, but ONLY on big ads that you know are gonna stand for a while, and of course on bosses - anywhere the fight lasts longer than 12 seconds and you have single targets (forget it in big trash pulls).

You may have to break up your rotation when sudden changes in the battle happens - mostly in defensive situations either to heal your team or defend yourself in a clutch. If your team is dying, simply steer away from your rotation and spam the twilight's heals until it's enough - using light weave for quicker results and more alive teammates. In a defensive situation, it is always subject to the specific scenario, but the thumb rule is: Ward > (maybe heal if health is dangerously low and the hits aren't rapid) > roll dodge away > heal up > new fresh ward > recover and restart rotation.

Last but not least, the ultimate (and super powerful) Power Overlload ultimate ability. Now, this is a wonky skill to use, and different from most other ultimates is that it will slowly drain your ultimate with every tick as you deal dmg and is therefore a toggable ultimate ability instead of the usual cast-and-forget ultimates. If you're not used to using it, it's gonna take some time to get used to as it alters light and heavy attacks completely. Heavy attacks are now close-ranged and work in a cone-shape in front of you (equally to 2H weapons for reference) to ALL enemies, meaning this is an absolute SLAYER for trash pulls. Just hurdle all the ads up into a pile, pop Power Overload and fry them all to atomic-level dust in a matter of a second or two. You can also use light attack weaving with this, but know that the projectile speed and range is less than normal light atacks - it does however deal 14644 shock damage PER LIGHT ATTACK! Woahhhh! This is super useful in PvP and can easily take down enemies using Crushing Shock > LA rotation alone (weaving of course makes it more likely). The heavy attack can also be used in PvP as a “JUST F%#CK!NG DIIIIEEEE!!!” scenario. Teehee ^.^

In PvP however, this whole build takes a slightly different approach from the otherwise defensive setup that the PvE version has. All you do is swap Hardened Ward with Streak (Bolt Escape morph). You basically approach your opponent, cast curse, Streak to stun the opponent on initial phase, and from here, using your environmental awareness and judgement, you use the knowledge you just gained above to form the correct approach to the situation. Is it a high-def opponent, wear their resources down by kiting around them - watch your own resources though!. Is it a low.def opponent, they likely have very high damage themselves and you will blast them away as quick as possible by using Crushing Shock > LA weaving - keep in mind that Chrushing Shock will cancel an opponents cast and stun them, but both of these debuffs have a cooldown. You will get a better feel for it as you experience it more and more. Or simply blast them away with your Power Overload heavy attack… Or go the slow sunday-drive approach and use the first rotation listed in this guide - most enemy players will however easily counter this with their own heals and what not, so maybe not do that on skilled players.

So lastly, I just wanna make a list of things you can use this build for… Things that I myself have used it for and can confirm works (if you know how to play it)

  • Any overworld content anywhere… Ever (yes, including soloing Harrowstorms, Geysers and Vulcanic Vents, Mirrormoors, any world boss etc.)
  • Infinite Archive (solo and duo)
  • Any questing (almost feels too easy though)
  • Solo any dungeon that doesn't require group mechanics (yes, DLC dungeons too - on vet is debatable though as I have not done every single DLC dungeon on vet solo - probably possible if you're good enough)
  • Standard group content both normal and vet. Even some hard mode stuff, although the later it gets into the DLCs the heavier game mechanics become and is suddenly fully inflenced by your own personal skill (issue). Would not recommend for later DLC trials and dungeons trifecta runs (perfect runs).
  • PvP: Battlegrounds, duels, Cyrodiil - tested and tried all-round. Guaranteed to make grown men cry.

NOT to be brought into hardcore trial trifecta runs though - they will not accept you, they will not like you, they will not entertain you. They see a one bar heavy attack mag sorc, and they are filled with prejudice (and envy - choose your pick)

Last-minute random notes and thoughts:

  • Make no mistake, this is NOT a tank build or a healer build. This is a tanky healing DD build. Meaning that at the end of the day, this is a damage dealer build - and it's a selfish one too. It just has suuuuper tanky qualities, meaning that it's hard to take down - this does NOT make it a tank though, as well as yes, you are able to nurse your teammates back to full health using burst heals, but this is NOT a healer build. You provide ZERO group buffs
  • This is designed to be a solo build. It just so happens to work in all other content as well - so don't be offended if you're being denied access to the big league group content stuffs. This build is not for that ^.^
  • This is a super fun and casual build that will GROW on you. It is only limited to your OWN skill level and I promise that if you stick with it, you will be more and more comfortable to do almost any content with it
  • This guide does not contain sweetrolls or glaced apples. Maybe check the guild ban
  • Careful with this build - you might never go back to what you had prior as it is dangerously easy to play, and doesn't require a whole lot of effort. Farming the gear for it is way too easy too (wayrest sewersm a trip to Cyrodiil to buy set parts or simply buy them from traders if you have the gold, Oakensoul ring, which can be a slightly bit of a tedious grind. especially if you don't have scrying maxed already - yikes. And last but not least, one medium piece of Slimecraw for shoulders, which can just be bought from undaunted chests - easy peasy.

That concludes this guide. Any questions, my DMs are open on Discord. And if you don't like this build or think it's stupid, cry about it. No seriously, go cry about it. :)
