Weekly ESO Set Spotlight: Akaviri Dragonguard, Heartland Conqueror and Jorvuld's Guidance

Today we are starting what will be a weekly series on ESO Hub, where we look at three sets from ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) and see if they are any good, and what uses and utility they offer players.

In this first installment, we will look at Akaviri Dragonguard, Heartland Conqueror and Jorvuld's Guidance

Akaviri Dragonguard is a heavy armor set in ESO. It provides both magicka recovery and health, which makes it a perfect fit for tanks in PvE, who need both of these stats to be good to help them stay alive and sustain their buff skills.

When you wear all five pieces of the set, you get a bit of extra health recovery and the cost of all of your ultimate abilities is reduced by 15%. The health recovery isn’t worth much, but reducing your ultimate cost is pretty much universally useful.

The set is especially useful as a beginner set for Dragonknight tanks in PvE, as using your ultimate more often will allow you to recover more resources from the Battle Roar passive. The resource return from this skill comes from the base cost of the ultimate, so while the set reduces the cost of your ultimate, the benefit from Battle Roar is not reduced.

While it’s mostly a selfish set, it does also help you to buff your group a little more often with ultimate abilities like Aggressive Horn and Replenishing Barrier.

Ultimately, Akaviri Dragonguard is outpowered by other tanking sets such as Claw of Yolnahkriin and buff sets like Elemental Catalyst, however I would recommend that you consider using the set for a while if you’re quite new to tanking, as it is not too hard to get and is very easy to use because you don’t need to do anything besides use your ultimate to get the benefit from it.

The set drops from Overland content in Eastmarch and can also be bought from guild stores.

Heartland Conqueror is an ESO set that can be crafted in Blackwood, and gives you a bit of extra magicka, stamina and damage. When wearing all five pieces, it doubles the strength of your weapon traits.

This is an interesting set with many potential uses. You can use it with the Charged trait to be constantly dishing out status effects and applying their debuffs pretty much on cooldown, for example the DoT from burning or the immobilize from chilled.

You can use it with Decisive to increase your ultimate generation, with Infused to buff your enchantments, or with Sharpened or Nirnhoned to buff your raw damage output.

Another option is using it with the powered trait to increase your healing output. On a last note you could also use this set with a Training weapon when leveling up to increase your experience gains and speed up the process.

As you can see, this is a very flexible set and it’s always worth considering if you are trying to theory-craft an interesting or unusual build. It’s especially worth considering for support builds and PvP builds. I think it is the least useful for PvE DPS players, but still do not dismiss this set if you are trying to make something a little different or off-meta with your build.

Jorvuld's Guidance is a very powerful healer set in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online). The set passively grants you extra magicka recovery and healing output, and increases the duration of all buffs and damage shields you apply to yourself and allies by 40%, which is certainly nothing to be scoffed at.

This set has held a firm place in the meta for end-game healers since it was introduced in Dragon Bones, as it significantly increases the value of most of your abilities and allows you to buff your team much more. I remember when the set first came out and I wasn’t aware of it, and was instantly impressed at how my healer suddenly started popping out 14 seconds of Major Force from his Aggressive Horn casts.

If you are playing as a healer in ESO and don’t already have this set, then I highly recommend that you get it. It will make a big difference for both you and your team.

Jorvuld's Guidance is one of the most powerful healer sets in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online)There is also a niche combination with Saxhleel Champion that tanks can do with this set, which allows them to give their team about 50 seconds of Major Force if they save up 500 ultimate before using Aggressive Horn. You don’t really need to do this in an optimized group because you generally have three or four players rotating War Horns, but in less organized raid groups or four player dungeon or arena groups, this can be a powerful combination.
